It's been a rough patch lately as a G fan, and I want to have some fun. Show me a team of guys that played some significant minutes for the Galaxy over the years and made you say "Geez...I'm better than that guy." I'll get it started... Coach Ruud Gullitt and GM Alexi Lalas ----------Naldo--Player------------- Player----Player--Player---Player Player---Player---Player------Player --------------Player------------------
Here's a nice not squad of players who's time with the Galaxy could have gone better. Coach Ruud Gullitt and GM Alexi Lalas -----------------------Naldo----------Angel----------------------------- Josh Gardner-------Alvaro Pires----Kyle Martino------Quavas Kirk Ante Jazic-------Ty Harden--------Lopes------------Marc Burch ---------------------------Josh Wicks----------------------------------
Damn! Memo. I could not remember this guy's name for the life of me. And credit to MLS.com I could find no record of him as a former Galaxy player.
Coach Ruud Gullitt and GM Alexi Lalas -----------------------Naldo----------Angel----------------------------- Josh Gardner-------Alvaro Pires----Memo------Quavas Kirk Babayaro-------Ty Harden--------Lopes------------Marc Burch ---------------------------Josh Wicks---------------------------------- Bench: Kyle Martino, Alan Gordon, Ante Jazic, Brandon McDonald
Actually, I gotta question your bench. Martino came to us post-injury, and before that he tore up MLS, so I don't know if we can put him there because it was the injury that did him in - which isn't so bizarro. And Gordon and McDonald actually did okay for us and then managed to continue to have good careers in MLS. And actually, Angel just finally had age catch up with him, which also isn't bizarro... But the spine of your team is pure utter bizarro junk...
OK. Maybe I'm a little hazy on the definition of bizarro. I was absent the day they covered that in both Soccer Lineups 101 and my literary elective Comic Books: Why We Love Men In Tights? I included Martino, Gordon, McDonald, and Angel all productive players, for how frustrating their time with the Galax was as unfullfilled potential or "what could have been". And Gordon got thrown in their for his far too easy hobo/smurf transformation.
OK. I'm having doubts if these guys really played enough to qualify for a Galaxy bizarro team, even though it sure seems like they ought to be included: Shue Burch Babayaro Memo These guys put in enough minutes to be worthy, i.e. unworthy: Angel Pires Harden Babayaro Naldo Wicks Gardner
Ely Allen was worse than Josh Gardner. And I gotta go with Troy Roberts over Ty Harden. Agree on Lopes, that guy is terrible.
While we're on the subject of questionable Brazilians, let's not forget Stefani Miglioranzi. Also, even if Pando Ramirez scored us a championship-winning goal, he was mostly a serious safety hazard for the people in Row Z.
Josh Wicks has gotta be my favorite bizarro goalkeeper, but honorable mention to Steve Cronin, who honestly I thought would be pretty good, and I defended him the whole year he started, but he had an absolutely miserable run of form for us.
Yeah, but a center back pairing of Xavier and Lopes is comedy gold! Here's an all time Galaxy player list: http://www.fanbase.com/Los-Angeles-Galaxy/roster
He was my soccer coach as a child. He ended up leaving as coach to go play for the Galaxy which made me dislike the galaxy because our team disbanded after that.
I completely forgot Chacon. There's a guy who was a prolific scorer where ever he went....until he came to AL. It's the Angel Syndrome, I guess.
