Holy sweet sh!+, bitTorrent is fast. I downloaded a whole episode of Ed for my wife (she missed last Friday's) in about 30 seconds. Wow.

I'm definitely going to keep using this!

OK, I thought that was too damn fast - apparently it only allocated the file space. Weird.

The program is short on UI and any kind of documentation, but so far it looks pretty cool.

    so what is it?

    edit: nevermind, i googled...

Ok, what is BitTorrent in plain English?

BitTorrent is a program you download. It is similar to a peer-to-peer file sharing service. Basically it goes like this: You download the installer. You get the link to a file that ends in .torrent and enter that URL into your browser (preferably Internet Explorer). This opens the BitTorrent download window. It starts downloading the file, or episode that you wanted (ex. alias2x01.torrent). As it downloads, it uploads the parts that you have to other people, so many people can get it at once. When you've finished downloading the file, you can leave the window open (don't press finish or close the window) and other people can still download from you. This is very much encouraged.

What thread should I check out? I use it for "24" episodes and it also works well with "adult programming"

suprnova is the only one still up i think - my first BT went super fast, like 50+ kbps, and i was like WOW!... but since then it has gone turtle, maybe MAYBE 3-4-5 kbps for a while, mostly about 1 - what gives? are people afraid to leave the windows open or are they just stupid?

OK. I downloaded this a few weeks ago to get some REM shows and I had trouble installing it or even finding the file to install it. Maybe I'll try again this week using these pieces of advice.

Is it tricky to figure out the first time or am I just dense?
