Yeah Benitez made a immediate impact as soon as he entered the game. He pressure the defender to make a mistake and his teammate capitalized to bad they lost.

Benitez must start our next game against our bitter rivals v***a, I'd say every Blues fan will be calling for him to start the game!

The game is on Sunday September 13th at 12.00 gmt Live on Sky Sports.

The only downside to this is our owners are charging fans £48 for a game on the telly! Which is way too much and will hit the crowd size. More fans will go to the pubs and watch the game around the City, possibly relating to more trouble in the surrounding streets.

Every game he has played he has been very mischevious and troublesome. He has played well though.

Benitez came on in the 78th minute today against Aston Villa. Espinoza rode the bench.

Replay on Setanta Sports at 5pm ET.

Do NOT waste your time and watch this game. It was a snooze-fest, Benitez came on with 10 minutes left and touched the ball twice (one was a decent shot on goal), and the game was generally boring with very few chances.

I woke up at 7am, figuring that it was Blues biggest match of the season so far, they were at home against their biggest rival, so they would come out attacking. Instead they played a 4-5-1 the entire match, subbed in Benitez for the other striker (O'Connor), and only brought on a 2nd forward in the last 5 minutes when they were losing.

I could understand playing defensively against top teams, and on the road against most teams, but at home in a derby match??? They can't expect to survive like this.

On his first touch of the ball he quickly blasted a shot on goal. Would've gone in but the keeper is actually really good.

Bad head-butt for Benitez. Taken to the sidelines to get "stitched up".

Another shot on goal by Benitez that got deflected by the keeper.

With his head bandaged up he looks a lot like Freddy Adu  lol

Benitez got one-on-one with the keeper and keeper blocks it yet again.

Pretty good performance by Benitez, in my opinion. He kept showing again and again how dangerous he is. Only a matter of time before he starts knocking them in. Only downside was that the defender marking him was like 7 feet tall and thus won every header and reduced Benitez's effectiveness.

    Hull 0-1 Birmingham :)

I think that's the reason Birmingham's coach said he didn't start el mamon this season...he knows Birmingham is a definsive team and has to pick the BEST lone striker to have up front. Benitez does not fit that description. Mcleish is scared to risk games with him up front. I would be too, hes just gonna get hurt and crushed by all these huge & rough defenders in the EPL.

    Re: Birmingham City F.C. (R)

He was only ineffective and easily dominated whenever a long ball came his way from the air. That happened several times and I was surprised that they kept on trying to pass him the ball like that over and over again. On short passes he was very quick, beat several defenders, and in general was a dangerous attacker.

The team just needs to find the best style of play that works. Maybe he would work better with another forward up front? The solid 90 minutes today shows that there's a lot he can bring to the table. His small frame doesn't mean he can't make an impact.

He'll do Fine. he doesn't need to score that often. Just look at Darius Vassell magnificient scoring record. as Long as benitez runs, breaks players and creates chances he'll be a mainstay. We all know what benitez is and isn't.

    Re: Birmingham City F.C. (R)

"With 11 minutes on the clock it was very nearly Chucho time - the striker receiving a threaded Teemu Tainio pass on the edge of the box, twisting past his man and arrowing a low shot goalwards that looked destined for the back of the net. But the outstretched arm of Boaz Myhill, diving to his left, prevented the diminutive frontman from scoring his first Blues goal.

    ...

Right on the stroke of half-time Chucho was brought into proceedings by an accurate Carr ball down the right and once again he showed phenomenal skill to ghost past two defenders as if they weren't there and bend in a shot from 18 yards that Myhill palmed over the woodwork."
