So did anyone catch it? Anyone like it? I thought it was pretty good and will definitely give it another chance. They picked a perfect actress to portray Helena, my my she is hot. So far it seems to be coinciding with the comic to a great deal, although there were some diffrerences. It seems that the WB is really making a name for itself with all these great shows. I just wish one of the bigger stations would take the gamble that UPN and the WB take. It would make tv a lot more interesting if they did. I'm sick of seeing 20 different cop or lawyer shows.
Yeah, I thought it held pretty closely to the Batman canon, although if Batman Beyond is part of that, Barbara Gordon needs to walk again in ten or fifteen years. I'm not entirely sold on it just yet. I don't like the introduction of superpowers to the Batman world...that's a bit too X-Men rather than the Dark Knight, IMO. And the look and feel is more like one of those first-run syndicated series (Earth: Final Conflict, that sort of thing) than a network show, but it may just be that it's much more Shumacher's Gotham than, say, Tim Burton's. I missed it! I was picking up my comics. I don't know if I would like it or not. They did change two of the three main characters' backgrounds. I read Dinah is some 17 year old girl rather than the Black Canary, although I am not happy about the way they changed Dinah, I guess Oliver Queen wouldn't mind. I can't criticize the show as long as the leave Batman alone.
Did anyone notice that they used Mark Hamill's voice for the Joker flashback scene's. I thought that was great.
I was digging it. The girl who plays Helena is a former model, btw. I thought she had the wit of Buffy only kicked more butt!!!!! And that detective guy....he used to be on the Young and The Restless. I think this one has staying power.
They changed Huntress' outfit to a more crime-fighting-friendly outfit....I like it. In fact, her jacket is similar to one that I've had for about year now.
I noticed that. The jacket was much better especially, though now it looks like they raided Carrie-Anne Moss's wardrobe from The Matrix. Decent show... I'm gonna have to motivate myself to tape it every week if I wanna keep watching it, though. I'm with NotAbbott, though, in that superpowers are alien to Batman's corner of DC (as opposed to Superman, say). They also don't really explain how Helena became a metahuman, since presumably neither Batman nor Catwoman were.
That said, I'm coming around on this. Mostly because I was a HUGE fan of Batman Beyond, and I guess the "Liquid Guy" reminded me enough of Inque to let some of the reservations die down. Of course, that's on the bad guy side, and not the good guy side. It still seems almost more like The X-Men's world than Batman's. And any show that requires extensive narration at the beginning of every episode to set the stage for the series' very existence worries me, just on principle. Later, COZ
It's an impressive show; probably one of the very few new shows I'll attempt to watch on a regular basis. It is sort of like "Batman: The Next Generation". It doesn't hurt that these "birds" are all very easy on the eyes, especially Dina Meyer, who was also in "Starship Troopers". I think Rachel Skarsten, the actress who plays Dinah, used to be on "3rd Rock From The Sun" as Tommy's girlfriend Alyssa. Am I right or wrong? i know she looked familiar. Does anybody know what Ashley Scott did (TV show or movie) before this show? If the show runs for some years it would be great to have an episode where Helena finally meets her father face to face and he is played by none other than Michael Keaton (tonight on the WB, a very special "Birds of Prey") "Don't let the bastards grind you down!"
Ashley Scott was a model....I do know that. IMDB says she was also in the movie AI and the tv show Dark Angel last year and that's it, kiddies.
Oh, I almost forgot about Mia Sara who doubles as arch- villainess/Helena's therapist Harley Quinn. I almost didn't recognize her. Good thing I still have my TV Guide Fall Preview Issue as a handy reference for the new fall season. She's ceratinly come a long way since I first saw her 16 years ago in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (damn I'm old!)

Mia Sara is pretty good... but I realized where I've seen the attitude she's got on this show before. She's the spitting image (down to the hairstyle) of Nana Visitor in her roles as Madame X on Dark Angel and as the mirror universe Kira on DS9. Even the voice is the same, it's creepy.
Anyone see it tonight....decent ep. Everyone had acceptance issues. cop dude scored some negative points big time.
