Binion's Horeshoe. -Vegas landmark -Home of the world series of poker -Closed. It's a sad day for fans of nostalgic Vegas and the World Series of Poker. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...10&u=/ap/20040111/ap_on_re_us/casino_shutdown
It's been a long time in coming. Apparently they're are lining up bids to take the World Series of Poker franchise. It's a shame but it's seems like there's been a pretty severe level of financial mis-management for some a while.
It was old school. The type of place where you thought that you could be stabbed in a fight after you left the tables. The book, Positively Fifth Street goes into some of the problems with the Binion family.
that's a really good book. And after reading it I'm kind of sympathetic to Becky Binnion. It also makes me wander what happened to all those thousand dollar chips Jack had printed up before he was killed.
Easy way to order that book? Or maybe I'll go to the library when I have a free day. I just got into this poker thing so I'd like to learn more.
Re: Re: Binnion's Horeshoe RIP Stop by Meridian's house on Thursday night. We'll let you buy in a little light.
It's pretty widely available, so I'd be surprised if your local library doesn't have it (unless it's checked out). I've seen it in just about every major bookstore and got my copy Borders.
Looks like Harrah's is going to buy Binions, turnaround and sell the property, and keep the brandname and World Series of Poker. http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/sun/2004/jan/13/516168090.html
