Great thread title, Guignol ! :p
Strange, yet no one still came out with the infamous question:

"why Amandine Henry isn't in the roster ?" :whistling:

The answer is simple, she is a threat to the team's unity according to Bini.

Exactly how is she a threat to Team's unity? Is it similar to Kia on the USWNT?

Basically if the she comes into selection, the team will be split in two between her friends and her non-friends. If there is no team spirit, the team is dead.

We had the same problem back in men's football in 1993 with Marseille and PSG players not liking each other and with 2 games at home to Israel and Bulgaria and 1 point needed to qualify for the WC94. And guess what Ginola/Kostadinov...

So all the French squad memebers are friends or are they just friendly w/ each other? Is there something speific that happen last time she was called up? Was there something that happened during club play? What was the exact incident that lend Bini to keep her permanent off the team?

    1) there's no more reason for the ladies to be friends than for male players or any other group of colleagues for that matter.

    2) it seems so.

    3) doubtful

    4) the question has been asked so many times that if any answer was forthcoming we would have all know all about it for a long time. it's in the vault jerry. the vault!

W/ your 1st answer I agree w/ you, colleagues don't have to be friends they just have to beable to work together. However, Shlj basically says that she's a virsus
    .

I don't understand what Shlj means by this statement that she would spilt the team. That confuses me. I don't understand how different her relationship with the the NT players on Lyon and the other club teams? There's plenty of NT players on Lyon, she gets along w/ them, correct?

i think shlj, who shares my enormous appreciation of AH, is simply trying to give us a glance into the mind of bini, where lutintamarre et lutinspiré are engaged in a great civil war testing whether his projet de vie, or any projet de vie, can long endure.

personally being far more montaigne than pascal, and more lutintamarre than either of them, here's a great pic to keep this thread spicily off-topic:

France has always created some of the sports most technically gifted, but highly divisive characters, and I personally wouldn't expect anything different with the women too. I seriously doubt Henry could do the damage of a Ginola in his egotistical prime, but in nation where you teach players the beauty of self expression, and benefits of free thought relating to true creativity, it should be pretty obvious for the coaches that their always going to have to deal with talented players, who are sometimes difficult to control.

So is this moral high ground stuff just smoke and mirrors, to cover up a serious weakness within the coaching circles of the women's game, or does it just highlight a global issue of players that hold little to no power within a sport which is still fighting for it's legitimacy? I mean, can you imagine the male equivalent of England excluding Gerrard from a WC or European Championship, when they know they could be on the verge of possibly having a great championship winning team?

He deleted it. I don't know the reason, but he doesn't want his post to be seen anymore, so I will also delete the quotes of his post.

Transparency note: After 8MaCookies contacted me, all posts referring the deleted post were deleted as well. I hope guignol can forgive me, that his post was also removed. ;)

Soubeyrand just keeps ticking along. I've not been paying attention for multiple months...is her role diminished now or still the important (and regular) cog in midfield?

she made the trip to cyprus despite being injured, didn't play a single minute and the ability of abily, bussaglia and stand-in franco in different pairings to lock down the midfield (none of switz, finland, england or canada were ever able to get the ball cleanly, on the ground, out of their own half) seemed to chime the first bars of her swan song. but against wales and scotland it was bussaglia who looked pale and soubeyrand's coming on perked up the side both times. and she still has the same dependable skill on dead balls. but it's been (over) a year since she's been able to put together much more than 45' at a time.

she's holding on for 2013 and probably beyond that for 200 caps. the first milestone should be no problem but before reaching the second she will have become (imho) more a liability than a contributor.

Thanks. Given her age, I'm impressed she's still at this level, even as a sub. She turns 39 this year!

So, does this mean that Soubeyrand will surpass Lilly's cap record and / or age record (as an active player on a women's national team)?

i looked KL's stats up. for age mamie soub' should surpass her no problem barring serious injury since she'll be 39 years and over a month old for the scotland-france qualifier in september and the first NT friendly dates following that should put her over Lilly's 39y 3m 16d at her last cap.

for number of caps? 352? get outta here. that was when NT was the only game in town for women which is no longer the case. and in the near future as clubs develop even the 177 she's at will seem unattainable for those who follow. i give the algarve and cyprus 2 or 3 more editions before teams stop answering their invitations.
