Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells - existing together?

I'll believe it, when I actually see it.

What's the over/under on this marriage lasting?

Will JLo and Ben last longer than this?

You can't put two control freaks in a relationship. Doesn't work that way.

I hope that it will last longer than Tom Landry's tenure so that I have something to laugh at the Cowboys for years to come. :)

    Don't hold your breath.

Parcells would be like 90 years old if he stayed in Dallas longer than Landry.

Well J Lo's marriage commitments and Bill's coaching commitments are usually on and off; on again and off again. The only difference is that J Lo's commitments are usually in very short time.

Any sportswriter who makes a living covering the Cowboys should go to church Sunday and give thanks to the Almighty.

The stories could be written NOW and just filed as the blowups actually occur.

Personally, I hate the cowboys w/ a passion but I'm intrigued by this hire since it represents a departure from Jones' belief that he can Own/GM/Coach a team all on his own. parcells will storm out of jerry's ofc quicker than a NY minute the 1st time he tries to make any suggestion related to the on field tactics or player/personnel decisions.
i'm a raiders fan, so I can appreciate where the cowboys fans are coming from. King Al thought he could run the team & has since taken a reduced role as the managing partner. Jerry still going to interject at times, but the big tuna will call all of the shots.
of course, Parcells 2 biggest decisions are what to do about emmitt & whether or not to retain anyone from the oaching staff.
1)emmitt salary cap hit would be reduced if they could restructure his contract to 1 million a year plus bonuses. They could release him after 2yrs and miss the balloon penalty.
2)the only coach that should be retained is Mike Zimmer. naturally Parcells would bring in his own defensive coordinator but Zimmer could be demoted to linebackers or secondary coach. Otherwise, everyone else has to go esp Bruce Cosltet & Joe (gets more face time than any other assistent) Alvozano. His "special" teams have rather ordinary as of late & w/ his commitments to the Desperados, he has his heart in to many places.
    Superbowl or bust w/i 3yrs.

With Parcells in, I think Emmitt's all but gone. It's more about Emmitt's cap number. Is it $10 million? Even at half that number, they could acquire a back through the draft or through free agency. And maybe with the rest of the dough, acquire a free-agent QB. Hmmmm . . . . . Jake Plummer?

Well the Univ Miami running back is out. They'll draft a rush end or offensive lineman for sure now.

They really need offensive linemen to do some blocking for the running back and protecting the QB from sacking. I've seen too many Cowboy QBs being sacked and ineffective rushing from Emmitt (despite the rushing record) due to lack of offensive effort this season.

The Cowboys could really use another Herschel Walker-to-Minnesota trade. Trouble is, they don't have another Herschel.

Even with a Walker, no one is stupid enough to exchange 7 players for a single player.... everyone knew what happened to the Vikings.

Didn't Jimmy Johnson trade Steve Walsh for a few great draft picks? Everybody though Johnson was crazy when he drafted Walsh even through the Cowboys had Troy Aikman..... then, Johnson traded Walsh away for a few top picks and Walsh disappointed afterward.

Well, when Jones fires Pacells the day after the draft. Ditka will be named the head coach of Dallas Cowboys. But before the first training camp, he will be replaced by Buddy Ryan.
