according to Goff, he has twice reneged on a verbal agreement to sign. Which to me suggests he wants to go but is having a hard time cutting the cord...this should clear things up all around. At least they kept bill longer than Najar.

As for the scout, what kind of team waits until the final worthless games of the season to 'scout' him. Clark had 1 save last night.

Another Yank in Germany would be fun, though I kinda wanted to see a GK go to Spain or Italy. Maybe Bingham might give either a shot.

Ah ha, I figured it out. DCU won't get anything for him, too late for it. So they sat him to force the scout to pay for MLS Direct Kick to watch his games this season, and DCU gets a cut of the subscription price so....they turned no transfer fee into enough to buy dinner. Now Olsen can take the wifey out for a burger.

Is Eintracht really the only club interested?

personally, I'm amazed that Hamid is still at DCU, as a free agent I'd have to think teams are lined up for him. He has easily been worth a goal a game for DCU the past 3 years and I think would be a top ten GK in any league right now - a great shot stopper - the kind of keeper that can be the difference between staying up and going down.

Surgery on his right knee the last two off seasons did not help his situation

has his performances dipped because of them?

he's only had 3 caps but he can show that he was regularly called into a dozen or so camps. don't PL clubs give some leeway to goalkeepers?

No chance at a Work Permit

He could always be loaned out though right?

I'd figure though he goes Bundesliga or Netherlands or something. Shame we never see any Yanks in Serie A or La Liga.

Yeah but at 26 going on 27 it would make the most sense to find a permanent home where he can lock down a starting role and try to make the 18 WC

i meant though if he signed with a PL club and they loaned him out. but I still understand your point. A big risk he's taking moving to a club in the winter. Though it offers more benefits since he's not a standout in MLS to Arena's eyes.

A Premier League club might sign a 19-year-old and loan him out - they aren't going to do that with someone as old as Hamid.

I don't know. Keepers are different animals. He may have 15 more years in those legs. 26 for a keeper is like 21 for a field player.

It sucks that his options will be limited because of Klinsmann, then Arena, then DC. The guy kind of gets screwed over at every turn. Not to mention the injuries. If he didn't have a lot of apparent drive, he'd have gotten disillusioned by now.

If you can find me an example of a Premier League club signing a 26-year-old to loan him out to an EU team until he's eligible for a work permit, I'm all ears.

No, his performance is still top notch. He's the best American GK in my biased opinion.

Bill will have plenty of quality offers to choose from and I have no doubt he will succeed overseas. Wherever he goes will be my 2nd favorite team.

They wouldn't have to. A knee surgery will make you wait until the mid-season window opens before contemplating a move anyway, but not many good clubs will bring in a 'keeper in mid-season. A second surgery in a row will make clubs wonder if there isn't some niggly underlying problem and maybe want to wait until he's a free agent/able to sign a subject-to-a medical pre-contract agreement.

Thank god. Interested to see how this works out, and I hope he can stay healthy wherever he goes.
