I've met Frankie Hejduk and I think it was neither of those two. That just seems to be his personality. You could tell him the sky is blue and you'd get the same reaction.

Well I met him in St Pete Beach Fl where he ran past me on the beach. No one noticed him on a crowded beach except me. I probably pulled the same face when I saw him on a Razr Scooter. Or this one:

I don't know, that's all that Goff said about that. It's no surprise that there will be some rumors popping up after the season Bill had.

Would love to hear something more concrete. I think Hamid absolutely has the potential to be the US starter in Russia, so playing at a higher level would be huge.

Oh, the prediction for the Russian World Cup are far more amusing on an off-the-field level.

Has anyone seen the ruble chart lately?

As to Bill, he would count as a local in France and Spain (and may in Italy) due to being a Sierra Leone "citizen" via his parents.

I passed Bologna on a train once and it looked to me like the most depressing city in Italy, kind of like an Italian Birmingham.

On the other hand, one of my favorite GK's of all time played for the club.

I can see how one might get that impression from the view at the train station, but it's actually a very nice town.

I don't think they would have been impressed with him on the 2nd goal

Gutsy decision by Sam at high speed (well, I guess he always plays at high speed) to go near post, and he blasted the hell out of that ball. Hamid either wasn't in command of his space or was gambling...

My first time in Hamburg I got it in my head that it had to be the original home of the hamburger, and that therefore they had to have a great burger available somewhere. In the end, after two days of asking (in between work, it wasn't a full time search) I was directed to what several folks agreed was the best in town, a BK in a very nice building.

Hamid was gambling, but maybe more than gutsy, just watched the game and Sam spends the entire game setting Hamid up for that moment. he'd been near that spot half a dozen times and crossed just out of reach time and again, and on this one BWP was center and someone was back post. I think it was a really smart game by Sam. Except for that moment, Hamid looked really strong.

To clarify, I really just meant "gutsy" in the sense that at that speed and that angle moving away from the goal, driving the ball near post is a pretty tough thing to attempt from a physical/technique perspective. Easier to either try to cut it back across, or to try a more accurate (but softer) sidefoot to the near post. Sam hit it darn hard, especially from that distance.

Getting in the way of it would have been equally gutsy.

Brings back memories of my emergency fill-in indoor GK days. There was one dude at the SoccerPlex whose shot, from almost any spot on the court, basically guaranteed some kind of hand injury...

It was a late evening, as we were going up to San Marino, but it just seemed so industrial, compared to the coastal Italy.

But I will say a word on behalf of the Italian GK's. Outside of clods like Marchetti, top Italians are extremely sound fundamentally and that should help Bill immensely, should he move there.

And I go back as far as Ricky Albertosi. (just hope that Bill doesn't pick up bad habits that afflicted Albertosi)
