Deco! He was awesome. Ronaldinho is fun to watch play. Shevchenko and Henri after that.

Who voted for Freddy? That one is random.

Pretty Good List but what about these players:
    ronaldo
    figo
    xavi
    pablo aimar
    morientes
    del piero
    totti

however if i were to pick from the list above, i'd have to go with ronaldihno............He's just so talented.

Oh, by the way, there's never been an american player to suceed in a foriegn league, so therefore i doubt i'd ever see an american player in the top 50 of any countdown......maybe a goalkeeper or two tho

Henry has done very well. I am biased and would vote for defoe. But seeing as he isnt on that list I would say Henry.

Yes, Adriano's a good striker, if he continues like this he can one day be the currently active non-italian who's scored the most goals in Serie A. Hey, who's holding the record right now, oh, yeah, it's Hernan Crespo! :D

Ronaldinho got my vote. and he plays for real's biggest rivals, so despite being biased against barca players he stil got my vote. shows how much i appreciate him!
I would have liked to have seen Stevie G make the list!

shevchenko scored 24 goals in the most defensive league. Adriano is at 14 and we're not even half way done. Adriano is the best player of the year. Scoring 7 goals in copa america making brasil win it too. He's performed like MARADONNA! He's deked players inside out and is compared to the great Ronaldo.

Should've been Sheva and I'm glad it did in real life. This thing doen't matter anyways.. its just a bunch of internet useres... i mean why is Robben there?? Was he in same calibre as Ronaldinho/Sheva/Lampard/Deco/Henry/Adriano in past year. Only those 5 would be worthy candidates... because we're not asking who's a good player or whos the best player out of those mentioned? We're asking which player had BEST year.. and anybody who voted for anyhting out of above 6 quite frankly is either biased or doesn't know much.

Anyways to me it should've been either Sheva, Henry, Ronaldinho or Adriano but i'm perfectly happy it was the best striker ever.. Andriy Shevchenko.

Amen to this thread, I can't believe he finished 5th behing Zidane  . He starred in a major International tournament and the Copa was won on his back in the final 3 Brazil matches. He's been more impressive than Ronaldinho in a Selecao shirt. Yeah Ronaldinho's been a revelation for Barca, but he's been lukewarm at best for Brazil. Now about that Maradona part.............(sighs).

Yup thats so true.... Adriano has been like a GOD for past year as well... first scoring soooooo much for Parma... then showing he can do it at bigger club too when he moved in January to Inter... doing it in champions league... this season... scoring in league... making defenders look like crap.. and on top of all... he almost single handedly made Brazil Copa-America champions. So he had all the qualities you usually need to get this award.. which is succeed internationally as well as in your domestic league but either way nobody can argue that sheva deserved it just as much so i'm not pissed but he should have defintely not been behind Zidane. anyways it doesn't matter.

Steven Gerrard. Not only a different class, but also the only player who didn't sell out to Chelsea. Put him on any team in the world, and they're instantly better. Can 't say that about everyone on that list...
