I wanted to create this thread so people can post things they have seen on other sites that they think would be useful here. This might be a simple tweak to the forum layout to make something either or it could be a feed of home page articles on the forum home page sidebar. If you have some gripes about things that are hard to do (maybe they take too many clicks?) please post those here too.
I like when you can click on the number of replies a topic has and it opens a window that displays everybody who posted in that topic and how many posts they made. BigSoccer had that years ago.
Thanks for sharing that suggestion. I know the feature you are talking about on vBulletin (what BigSoccer used to run on) and I'll see if we can find something similar for XenForo (our current software).
I would like to be able to see threads that are started in each forum, even if started by people on my ignore list. Currently that isn't available.
Yes. I'm sure this is already possible, but I want to be able to subscribe to a forum and not see updates in the top right "alerts" bar unless I either subscribe or reply to a thread. -- If this is already possible, I'm listening.
Actually, I have one serious suggestion. The default avatar should be something other than what it presently is. I don't know what it should be. Something a bit less neutral, but not anything outrageous. A random design of some sort would be nice. Identicons would work well if they can be implemented. Or maybe a pony shitting rainbows.
I respectfully disagree. Between significantly better ignore lists than the old software and the moderator pyramid, there's already a sufficient system to deal with trolls and others who can't behave. We don't need the cliques ganging up on someone for undeserved reasons. If the moderator can't see it from a certain angle, take it higher up.
Big Soccer Mexico is a great fora but there are ghost mods that make knee jerk banning decisions based on a snapshot view of the tenor of a thread completely oblivious to context. A moderator should be engaged and an active contributor to the forum. If a mod doesn't post more than a few times a week he should be removed as a moderator. Specifically @Estevo and @PARS The latter is a good guy but is seldom on and the former makes decisions without context that are detrimental to the active contributors of the forum.
the poop emoticon, give mods the power to IP ban trolls that make new accounts to disrupt conversations, get rid of the USA forums is a must, simplify the forums/threads because its kind of hard trying to find countries you want to opine on, get mods to clean up old threads that havent been active for a year and/or keep legendary threads in some archive thread, have bigsoccer shop in a drop down menu, and give @Estevo mod powers to ban actual racists in bigsoccer in general. oh and contests. hold end of year/christmas contests for every nation except the USA forum to win goodies..also merge israel thread with mexico...should be fun Lastly, tell @sidspaceman that he's an awesome mawd that deserves nothin but praise from allah. Also some administrator privileges would be nice for sid too
You can still find the countries that you're after. The countries in the 'More Euro' and 'Central & Eastern Europe' subsections are just not as popular as the countries in the front page, so it's pointless to move them all to the front page. In fact, it tidies up the front page to keep them in their respective subsections.
I agree that all mods should post approx 2-3 times per week or say 15-20 times per month. I get that they're regular people with jobs and real lives and go on vacation and all, but if it's an extended hiatus, that's also why there's usually 2-3 mods per forum. If the mods aren't active, then that's where DK should come in.
To simplify things, that's why we have the left navbar and the "my forums" and all that good stuff. I can easily find the few I'm interested in while totally ignoring the others. If you have an issue with the USA forum, just don't go there...easy as that. Problem with a poster? That's where the ignore list and reporting post functions come in to play. Get the mods to run their own contests. No rule states you can't. But I do agree that an occasional site contest wouldn't be a bad thing.
The U.S. forum is full of n00bs and hipsters who don't know the sport. You can get rid of it. We all know Mexico is the money maker. Also, allow the mods to IP ban trolls. There's a guy in the Mexico section who makes 5-6 accounts a week.
Bop just wants his just due. 10% with 1 point per year that my bsmx check ain't cleared @Huss act like you know.
