I recently e-mailed Gary Parkinson, a columnist in British footy mag, FourFourTwo who does a monthly feature on soccer websites. I e-mailed him a suggestion of featuring Bigsoccer in a future issue, and next month he is!
Jesse posted this a while ago, but said this was from the March issue... ====================================== Excerpt from FourFourTwo Magazine - March 2003 Gary Parkinson The BigSoccer.com boys love the game. The first sight to greet us when we dropped in was the opportunity to buy a period USA shirt commemorating their 1-0 win over Belo Horizonte. Over seven years the site claims to have built up 250,000 users around the world - it's intriguing to see a Celtic fan in Glasgow swapping Championship Manager tips with a Liverpool fan in Hawaii. Expertly arranged and maintained, it's one of the finest message board sites we've seen, and there are several to see at the moment.
Whoever the webmaster is actually raised some good points about why soccer is great, but he twisted them in a bigoted and chauvinistic manner to bash soccer, which only made him look like a fool. He also rehashed some of common complains about soccer, but he push them to such a farcical limit that it reads like a parody of soccer haters. It is actually a harmless and hilarious site.
It's in the April issue (#104), which hit the newsstands in the past week out here in CA. Page 28 in the monthly "The Net" column. Pretty cool to see BS get the mention. Ben Olson and Hristo Stoichkov are each quoted in "They Said What?!?" on p. 21. Issue also has a timely multi-part feature on the Welsh national team, who will play USA here in May.
