It seems like there is NOBODY who thinks the Rapids have any chance. Nobody except me that is.

Last time we beat Dallas in the playoffs we made it to the cup. Why not this year? Especially with Pibe playing like he is. I've never seen him hustle and get in on tackles this year like he has in the playoffs. I think he really wants a championship this year.

In all his years in the league, Pibe has never been this far in the Playoffs, never had this kind of shot to go to the Cup.

    The Rapids will beat LA.

This would hardly be the biggest upset in sports since Namath and the Jets shocked the Colts and the world in SBIII. For one thing, it's not even a final, it's only a semifinal. In fact, the Rapids have already beaten the Galaxy in the RB this year, way back in May I believe.

However, both Cobi and Ruiz are playing out of their heads, full of confidence. The Rapids' defense will really have to step it up, and Kramer will have to play above his head for the Rapids to pull it off.

    Should be a great series.

I'm glad people are recognizing El Pibe's insane play! Especially after last game! He should be re-named El Gato Felix, Cuz the mf has a bag a tricks, and it seems endless! right when I think I've seen every concievable soccer move, he pulls out a new one! The man's play is genius, pure and simple, he takes pleasure in 5 yard passes, I think the only reason he ever wants the ball is so he can give it away! Just brilliant! I was starting to get critical of him in the middle of the season and up until last game posted that I wouldn't mind seeing Beckerman in there for him, but Hanki obviously has more patience with this man's genius, and Carlos wants to get the job done...

I too think the Rapids stand a great chance to run to the Cup! aren't we the only team to have beaten LA at home??? we split with them, but I don't think we need to play them that close this time, I think we can steal all 3 points on the road and stomp on them at home...

You're certainly not alone in your estimations of the Rapids chances Ben!

I am a fan of Carlos and really like and defend his play despite his obvious flaws, but even I am wondering what the heck got into him. I think someone needs to incite some Galaxy stoog into a hard takle. I think in the Dallas series, Carlos was seriously pissed off those last two games. As long as he doesn't do a flying Bruce Lee kick on anyone...

Another parallel would be that LA won the Supporter's Shield, as KC did the year we beat them in the semis to move on to the MLS Cup.

Incidentally, my first date with my wife was the game that Colorado beat Dallas in '97 to move on to the semis, where Hendo had that great bicycle/side volley to win the game in the 87th minute or so.

Our second date was the game vs. KC that the Rapids clinched their trip to the MLS Cup.

The Raps went 4-0 before the MLS Cup that postseason, if anyone recalls.

It'll be tough. We beat them 1-0 and then 3-2 early in the season, and then in later games they rocked us pretty hard. But this is the playoffs and anything can happen. It should be a great series.

Maybe we should start calling him Cantona.

What's even more amazing is I seem to recall Carlos running in the past couple games. Okay, Okay. Jogging.

If the Rapids play this series the way they played the last two games against Dallas, the only way LA will advance will be if they play at their absolute best.

And both teams have shown they're ready to take advantage of whatever scoring opportunities they're given.

I think the Rapids have a damn good chance, I'm expecting a very tight series -- overtime/mini-game to decide it a week from Saturday.

This series is far more important than a Super Bowl. Anyway, it's the media that after the fact built up Joe Namath. It was the Kansas City Chiefs that made history and changed the course of the NFL.

Please stop with the NFL references. Us sports fans of the 21st century have no clue what you are talking about.

Let me just restate the fact that I picked the Raids to go all the way to the cup with 2 games still left in the season and got a couple responses that indicated I was too optimistic. Not bragging or anything (since we haven't made it yet) but just wanted to point out how being overly optimistic isn't a bad thing.

    3 more games!

Broncos '97??? No, I don't think the league has they're lips on our owner and coach's a$$, in order to get the city to support coporate welfare, and blackmail the city into building the Rapids a stadium. The league certainly isn't doing everything in their power to make sure the Rapids are winning either...

Broncos... I think I feel ill...

Hey I want to wish you're team the best of luck, even though I dont think they need it. As much as I would love to see LA lose the cup for the 4th time, I think it would be even greater if yall knocked them out of the playoffs, which I really think you can. Anyways, I'll be rooting for yall, and watch out for the fish. He flops around alot, something we like to call "diving"

Sorry top offend any soccer snobs but I was reffering to the fact that the zbronvos were the underdoggs the entire year until they won the superbowl. Forgive me for mentioning football in a superbowl post.

Anyways, pour another beer for me, things are getting tense in my house.
