Who do you think is the biggest suprise of Euro 2004 qualifying so far? I'd say Latvia because they are top of a group which includes Poland, Sweden and Hungary.

    keep in mind...

Latvia has already beaten San Marino twice in that group, once on a 90th min own goal. They did win at Poland (1-0), which is a very nice W. Their other result is a 0-0 home draw with Sweden - not terribly impressive either way.

We'll see what they have when they have to face Hungary twice and go to Sweden. Nonetheless, excellent effort thus far.

I would say Wales is the biggest surprise. Everyone picked Italy to win the group with Yugoslavia in second. Also Finland is in that group who are no push overs. After 4 games Wales is 4-0 and 5 points ahead of 2nd place....looking good!

I would take Wales as the biggest surprise of Euro 2004 qualifying.

Agreed, Wales and Latvia have been the two biggest shockers of these qualifiers so far. However, you have to remember that Wales played Azerbaijan twice and Latvia played San Marino twice so it's tough to say anything quite yet. But yes, so far at least they have played very well.

Wales also beat Italy and Finland. Italy is a Top team and Finland is no pushover either. Wales big test comes in the next two games againt Yugoslavia and Italy on the road. If they lose both then they will be most likely down to 3rd place or tied for 2nd.

Yes the biggest story in 04 is the relatively low murder rate.

I expected Wales to be good. Its not like their team has not skill or anything. Besides, right now, they haven't played Serbia & Montenegro yet. If they beat Serbia, a team that can go from ice cold to red hot, then I pick them to win the group.

Yah, I agree. Serbia have been shity lately, drawing 2-2 with Azerbaijan is not good so I think Wales have a good chance of beating them.

It has to be Wales - we were in the 4 th pots when being seeded for the group.

To be so far clear and with a game in hand is superb.
Remember Serbia took points off Italy and whislt we have played Azerbajain twice they only lost 2-0 to italy at home and have beaten and drawn with Serbia.

    Hungary-looking good for a play-off place
Greece-likely to top their group which includes Spain and Ukraine
