This is an interesting game, but the Rugby World Cup final was far more important.

If the Barcelona team weren't completely crap then this game would be right up there as a great event. As it is though it will be simply a case of watching Madrid play all the good and positive football while the Barcelona crowd behave like disgusting animals.

I would second this opinion. Way more drama.

Yep. Barca sucks, anyway. Besides, Lazio fans sport anti-michael jackson banners and redneck confederate flags. Who can beat that?

I saw the match and it was disappointing. It´s not the biggest, just the most hyped game in the world.

I don't think even battles between the Catalans and Madridistas can compare to River - Boca matches.

Superclasico's between those two are always exciting to watch.

    lol.

The game was rubbish. What the hell has happened to ronaldo? he looks at least 7-10kilos overweight! and was exhausted after every run over a 30yard space :(

BArcelona were awful and looked like the awayteam at their own stadia..very dissapointing game.

And Real's Ultras Sur sport white power tags all over Madrid, except inside the stadium for some reason.

And Barca's Boixos Nois... nobody ever heard about them except for the coward murder of an Espanol fan a few years ago.

    Nobody's perfect eh?

I was just talking about general atmosphere. I like it better at a Rome derby.

the game was reported to be one of the least entertaining in years. a couple of reasons for this: first of all Rijkaard put out a side in the first half that seemed more than anything intended to contain Real Madrid. They did little attacking in the first half. He fixed things at halftime and the end of the game was much better with more attacking football from Barcelona.
second of all the crowd was obviously more subdued than last year, in part perhaps because of their team's first half display, and in part because I've heard the Boixos have been staying away from the Camp Nou in protest against Laporta's anti-violence policies - they had nets up around the corners and behind the goals I heard to prevent objects (like pig's heads) from being thrown on the field.
There was plenty of drama, the game just didn't quite live up to it. That happens more often than not.

atmosphere? ok now I realize you need to watch more argentine football, Boca-River cant be compared to the roman derby, no contest.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being serious. Real Vs. Barca is more overhyped than the Super Bowl. Roma Lazio is way better. Lazio is a bit quirky, and Roma, well, they have Chivu.

Roma-Lazio, Milan-Inter, Boca-River, and Celtic-Rangers all have better atmosphere than Barca-Real. Mainly because they are city derbies and you get more visiting supporters into the stands. But I would have to agree that based on global interest Barca-Real is probably the most watched domestic game worldwide. It doesn't come close to the CL though.

The atmosphere at Barcelona-Real was absolute rubbish.

It's all very well for the fans to hold up bits of paper and make pretty displays before the game starts (although personally I think orchestrated displays like that are shît) but what's the point if they don't make any noise throughout the game?

All the Barca fans did was whistle - hardly any songs or other noise. Even if you're getting beaten in a derby match, half the point of being there is to sing about how much you hate the opposition. But there was none of that at all.

I don't think it helped that there were virtually no Real fans there either.

Overall I thought it was crap.
