i know its early in the season but has anyone noticed that dentons game has been atrocious this season?? i thought he was adequate last season but he has looked horrible so far in 2003. from the absolute crap he displayed against the metros to the red card against morelia he seems to have his head firmly positioned in his arse. lets hope torres gets healthy soon. (i'm sure some of you will love this last bit...)
Was he really that bad against the Metros? Denton will be fine, don't worry. I'm actually more worried about Garcia so far this season.
justed seemed like every ball he tried to play out of the back went straight to a metro jersey. then there was the whiff. if you missed it you were spared.
Like I said, I have complete confidence Denton will be fine...he is coming off a bit of an injury too...so...wait, what the hell...when did I turn into a Denton apolgist?
unless we move someone to the left I don't see him getting the start. Clark and Dunseth are playing too well in central defense right now.
torres dunseth clark dude is our best 4. denton and mccarty could get plenty of minutes on many other teams. you guys notice clark and dude made last weeks best XI on mlsnet. no forwards or mf but 2 D... i guess there is an article in eurosport about torres but i haven't read it yet.
Like I have said before, quietly our defense has become a real strength.I think its in the top 2-3 in the league.
Boy I couldn't agree more. Matino has drawn TEN FREAKIN FOULS so far this season, and at least that many that could have been called. He's gonna get the crap kicked out of him and he's too young for the Refs to bother protecting very much. It's time we send our own hard man out there; you maliciously bang on our boy, and you may find yourself doing some rehab. Time for the "nice guy" Crew to fade into history. We aren't gonna get a Cup unless we start hitting back. As for Denton, well, I've been saying he wasn't much of anything since the day he was picked in the reentry thing. He's an OK little player, and he's nice to have because he a lefty, but he's not tough enough to be a defender and he's not quick enough to be a flank runner. He's a tweener, and like most utility players, the reason he got to be an "all-aroound" guy in the first place is because he really doesn't have a position.
When Cunny gets the winning goal in the East conference finals off a McCarty through ball, I will laugh at you.
Well, it will be hard to top Jeffy using his knee to put one past Howard, courtesy of a Hey Dude cross.
Why would you be worried about Garcia? If you remember, a couple of our recent goals are due to him. A free kick set up, and a corner kick setup, IIRC. Has there been something staggeringly wrong?
From the Dispatch. Other teams get physical with Martino because he holds the ball too long. It's probably posted elsewhere, but it seems like a good fit here as well. http://1460thefan.com/tf.php?story=dispatch/news/sports03/apr03/1748614.html
I think it's foolish that we judge chad based soley on his actions from the first two games of the season last year, after he came off a year lay off. Not only that but his ankle is still not 100%, not all of last year and not yet this year. I think we need to put him in the middle with Dunseth.
I think we're fine with Clark-Dunseth learning to play alongside each other. But I have no problems with McCarty getting a playing time there, or at right back or d-mid. He's a good soccer player and brings intensity to the game. Like Bill said, you mess with our guys and he'll come up with a nice, solid tackle that you'll remember.
I just haven't been as impressed recently by him in the actual run of play, something seems missing compared to the end of last year, but maybe I just hyped him up too much in my head.
