I have been doing the same thing -- except for this week's yp, he was total crap.

But over the course of the next few weeks I plan to build a crappy B-team. Look out for me sucking in the BS cup next season ;)

yeah... if my yp's are as good as they were this season (technically they should get better) then I'll have an interesting team... I won't be able to afford the high wages, but I'll definitely play around w/ having 2-3 trainees who aren't starters or 2-3 guys who can come of the bench and provide a spark.

This season I only had 2 subs. 1 batsman who could come in when form slipped and a yp trainee who wasn't good but was just training up enough to be sold.

Now I've added a keeper who's not a great batsman, so I've got bat/keep and a keep/bat and a yp has established himself as a starter, pushing my emergency allrounder (feeble bowling resp. consistency, profic. batting) to a permanent bench spot.

Now I'm looking for a young talented non-trainee allrounder for my 6 spot or a better wicket keeper who can bat well also... I think my bowlers would do better w/ a keeper who's got better than med. keeping skills...

    I've got 2 extremes..

    wk. 1 - competent/competent bat/conc w/ mediocre keeping
    wk. 2 - mediocre/feeble bat/conc. w/ proficient keeping

    I'd like a proficient/proficent/proficient... or something close.

Oh bloody piss - is the second round home and away or just two games?

Deathspawn challenged me and w/o even looking too closely I accepted only to realize he challenged me to play at his place.

No worries, it is just one game, but you will crush him even if you played on the moon.

He did email me and told me he had made that mistake when challenging you.

well, for the most part, wicket keeper trainers have trainees that are like

    Batting: Respectable, Proficient, Strong
    Wicketkeeping: Strong, Superb, Quality

Wow, second match in a row for me decided after 49.3 overs: 315/5-314/5 Burritos over Scouse. Good match.

probably going to lose this one... that's what i get for playing a feeble bowler in abysmal bowling form!

Also resting my U-19 player and another batsman of mine as well... arg... gonna need a century from Wilkey to even get close.

    End of Over 34: 189-1, runrate=5.56

shame it was a friendly, Jackson's never scored a hundred in his career... of course batting at 5 or 6 makes that very difficult.

A friendly? Good god man, this is the prestigious BigSoccer Battrick Cup! There is no higher form of competition in any sporting event!

To win this, it's like finding the Holy Grail and Shergar in your bed with Marilyn Munroe! :D :D

Challenge made to Norse Athletic Club. My two best batsmen combined for 6 runs in league play, and over 100 in the BigSoccer Cup. THEY know what the real tournament is.

The story of my weekend: if you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both.

EDIT - the other story of my weekend: boy, there are teams a ******** of a lot better than mine, aren't there just.

My match with Banagher Knight is over, I think, but with the commentary stuffed I can't tell who won.

Edit: OK, scorecard is up. Norse wins after bowling Knight out for 49 runs. Good thing, too, as we were headed for a low total on the chase, but that target was low enough that we still managed to pull it off.

Cyclones putting on a good show batting... but they'll probably not make more than 270. A goal that's makeable.

Norse keeps winning, even without all-everything Sulieman Seargeant.
