Major kudos to BC for winning the regular season title. Coming 2 seasons after they won the tournament, that shows they're building something there in Chestnut Hill.

Providence sneaking in is a surprise but it's nice to see the program improving. Still, BC should have minimal problems with them.

St. John's-Seton Hall and UConn-Rutgers should go to the higher seed but those are no sure-things, especially since the Hall and Rutgers really need wins to help their at-large quest.

Notre Dame shouldn't lack for motivation against Georgetown after the Hoyas upset them 2 weeks ago.

BTW, if the higher seeds prevail, we're looking at some great semis: BC-Notre Dame and UConn St. John's. Damn!

PC may be the most improved team in the Big East. Very hard-working squad. If form holds and the top 4 go on to the semis, any one of them could win the conference.

So, if Rutgers and Seton Hall lose in the first round, do they get at-large bids?

I'd say no. I think they both have to win, and they might have to win more than one. Rutgers did win over UConn in Storrs last year so their task this weekend is not impossible. They out shot BC last night 32-9 in losing. Anything could happen. Seton Hall has a really tough task taking on St John's. They've had their share of big wins this year though. Could be an interesting tournament in Piscataway. I'm hoping the home team is alive to play!

I would think that one of them would have to run the table.

FYI, NESN is going to televise the Big East Finals this year for those of you (like me) who can't make the trip

This looks like another great BE tourny. Providence is the most improved from last year, but Georgetown is the most improved from the beginning of this year and has the best chance of being a dark horse after finishing strong with a win over Notre Dame and a tie with St Johns...
Most likely it will be U conn or St Johns to take it all home. The top 4 seeds will get bids no matter what. If Rutgers/Seton Hall/or Georgetown get to the final they will have a strong shot at a bid as well.
Biggest disappointment is Syracuse... good team that didn't get in.

I agree. Against UConn Sunday, their defense was really, really shaky. If not for their goalie (whose name escapes me, but he was very, very good), they would have given up 6 or 7.
