Depends on the wealthy. I understand wealthy people who are stingy with money like the Quakes owner Lew Wolff. I don't understand wealthy people who piss money away without rhyme or reason like the Maloof family.
Well if those schedules you all say are to be believed, and no reason they wouldn't be, then it's not a partnership. We're done the affiliation game for 2014. So the "big announcement" would probably be... stadium?
Indeed, if the Blues were partnering with someone, it should be apparent in the schedule. Since all 8 MLS teams without affiliations now have scheduled USL Pro games with their reserve teams, we can pretty much rule out the announcement being an affiliation.
That's my only other guess. A rebrand along with a new stadium deal. I, personally, like Titan Stadium, but maybe they couldn't agree to terms there, or maybe they feel they need to be in the heart of Orange County now. They could possibly relocate to Irvine where they've played some games. Or maybe Anaheim? Santa Ana?
Whatever they go with hopefully it's a full time move. Enough of the bouncing around to various stadiums. Pick one and stick with it. Though the stadium isn't the big issue for them obviously. Selling tickets to said stadium most definitely is their problem. Speaking of Santa Ana, where did they play there? They used Anteater Stadium at Irvine correct?
I do not believe the Blues played at Santa Ana Bowl. I was referring to when the OC Waves (née Zodiac) played there in 2000.
Even though the USL Pro schedule lists them as Los Angeles Blues ... navigate your way to the Oklahoma City web page (energyfd.com) and take a look at the article regarding schedule ... calls them Orange County in the write up and lists them as such on the schedule below. "Suprise"!
A couple games at Fullerton College, too. Which is right down the street from Titan, but isn't Titan.
Well not really a shock. Orange County let the cat out of the bag a few days ago with their "subtle" message with the orange peel. They have to think people are idiots if they didn't think that would reveal what the change was. Have to hope they'll have a second part of the announcement or the "big announcement" is going to be not so much. That said does anyone else find it odd that of the three words that make up their name now 2 are colors?
NorCo College a couple of times and Centennial High School in Corona. Oh, a few others, too. Hold on, here's the list as I have it: Titan Stadium 27 games 2011-2013 Norco College 4 games in 2011 Centennial High School 2 games 2011 Palisades Charter High School 1 game in 2011 UC Irvine 2 games in 2013 Fullerton College 1 game in 2012, 1 game in 2013 StubHub Center 1 game in 2013 (vs. LAG Reserves, but an LAB home game)
The PDL alignment and schedule show an Orange County Blues FC (which was Orange County Blues Strikers FC last year). There's your spoiler.
Hopefully they have a stadium announcement or the 5th is going to be pretty lame. Not that this was going to set the world on fire, but now I'm not sure what the point of their unveiling is...
