Missouri just hired Amy Edwards and the Georgia assistant (name escapes me). UT is looking for an assistant.....anyone know which one left? Nebraska is looking for an assistant......anyone know which one left? OU is looking for an assistant......anyone know which one left?
Missouri changes The revolving door of assistants at Mizzou continues. Stability could help a program that should be among the best in the Midwest. The pertinent article: http://mutigers.ocsn.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/012304aaa.html
There have been alot of changes in asst coaches in the Big 12. Jen Renola left Texas, she decided to go back to the Northwest. She had a falling out with Chris. Apparently she completely disagreed with the way that he treated his players
Thanks, I was curious about that one. Maybe she is on to something. There has to be a reason a team with that much talent accomplishes so little over the past few years. I know nothing about the inner workings of that program. Just have been curious what is troubling them. Hmmm. Is Jen going to stay in coaching?
What is your source on this, Aggie fans? So after four years of playing for Chris and five years of coaching with him, she suddenly realizes that she disagrees with his methods? Or could it be that goalkeeping has been a weakness for Texas, this year more than ever, and now with the team attracting national talent (including Dana Hall in goal), it's time to step up the quality of the program in that area? If Coach P is so horrible why aren't players leaving in droves? And how is he still bringing in top talent? Yes the team has underachieved in post-season, but I have not noticed poor coaching being a big problem in the games I have seen. If some of our national team caliber players would step up and perform up to their ability, we wouldn't be discussing underchievements. (Not you, McDonald. You're doing just fine! )
Is it not the coaches job to get the players to perform to their capabilities? Petrucelli has more talent than most teams in the country, yet his teams underperform. Why? It starts with coaching.
Of course the coach is ultimately responsible for the teams perfomance. That includes not just the X's and O's, but also the management of diverse egos and all the interpersonal relationships that go into building a group of highly-competitive teenage women into a well-performing team. That continues to be Petrucelli's challenge. However, the above posts suggest that Petrucelli is somehow mistreating his players, leading to 1) the resignation of an assistant coach, and 2) underperfomance by the team. All I can say is, after several years of watching the team in practice and in games, and sitting in the stands with former players, parents of players, and new recruits, this suggestion seems to me a bit far fetched, to say the least.
Mizzou signings I debated as to whether to post this to 2004 committments or a Big 12 thread; I settled on the latter as I think this is of little interest outside of Missouri, let alone the Big12. Missouri has announced their signings: http://mutigers.ocsn.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/021104aaa.html Not much of interest except the minimal press given to a "walk on" Casey Dreyfus, a terrific player on an excellent JB Marine team. Missouri deserves better than the current management in Columbia.
Texas assistant coach Texas has just hired ex-Colorado assistant Kelly Lindsey as assistant coach, replacing the departed Jen Renola. http://www.texassports.com/mainpages/sc_pages/2003_04/008/021904_20.html
