Incredible win with 10 men. Boyd has been immense. Braunschweig play league leaders Magdeburg next week.

 

Cyclops gets the start today against Wehen Wiesbaden, who don't have Lankford in the squad. The FCKers are protecting their second place, automatic promotion position. 1-1 after a pair of early goals.

 

A win today would assure the Red Devils of a third place finish which is the promotion playoff spot. Obviously second and auto promotion is the goal.

 

2-1 loss for Kaiserslautern. FCK twitter references Boyd as being bewitched or cursed, which doesn't sound lucky.

Watching the YouTube. FCK Twitter put up this nice picture of Boyd and Maloney together, purely for our amusement, I'm sure.

The highlight of Dortmund's first goal is lots of fun for anyone who likes a wild, improvisational bit of skill - Viet's play was seriously eye-opening.

Boyd looked pretty dominant in the air and made a brilliant back post cross around Maloney that came to nothing. Maloney a bit more anonymous in the context of Dortmund having more possession and defending less. Was on the right of a three man backline.

 

Yes, that Viet dribble, pass and assist was spectacular.

 

Updating on Boyd, a late-season streak of 3 losses saw Kaiserslautern drop into the playoff place. Boyd finishes the regular season with 8 goals and 1 assist in 13 games.

The atmosphere for the two legs should be electric. Kaiserslautern are playing Dynamo Dresden, who are very well supported (pre-pandemic home average of 28k) and Kaiserslautern's promotion push has seen the fans return in droves - they had over 45,000 fans at the last two home games!

Nice move to make space and get a cross across the six yard box - but no one quite anticipated it because it didn't seem likely to work out...

 

Will comes off - looking like a guy who definitely shouldn't have passed the concussion protocol after he went down the first time.

 

Cyclops tries to make Knipping into another cyclops with a boot to the head. Narrowly didn't work.

 

Creative flick at the near post by Boyd goes just over the crossbar at the back post. Would have been an awesome goal. Can confirm Boyd curses in English after the goal.

 

Dynamo Dresden have not taken a shot 30 minutes into this one. They should be relegated just for that.

 

Boyd with the game's first shot on goal in the 44th minute. I think a deflection might have taken all the steam out of it.

 

Boyd chest traps a corner and shoots off the bounce, but good job by a defender to block it wide.

 

If Boyd wasn't on FCK, I'd be OK with promoting neither team. Kaiserslautern have been the better side.
