What do you guys think? Best DC United Metrostars Revolution no comment on Crew, Fire, La Galaxy or San Jose, here are the wrost KC Wizards Dallas Burn colorado Rapids
I don't know about best and worst...but I think all of them are fine... except.. New England and Dallas... The other 8 don't need changed they are fine, theres just something about New England's and Dallas's i don't like and just looks corny to me, but theres tradition with these teams now and in the fans of those teams like them then they don't need changed...I'm a neutral MLS fan, i love the whole league and root for everyteam (until Seattle or Portland gets a team), it doesn't really matter what fans like me or from other cities think about a teams logo, if you don't live near that team or aren't a fan of that team who cares what you think...
i think the new metro stars logo is terrible. i think dc united is hands down the best. the galaxy looks kinda funny, but I guess it could be worse. it could be the burn's logo.
They are all retarded disneyfied logos. But every other single American sports teams are either changing or have already changed to the similar style. Theres only a few teams left with actual decent nice looking tradiotional logos, but MLS doesnt have one.
Being a Revolution Fan, I am not a big fan of the Revs logo....Sure there is some tradition involved, but I think that the team should actually adopt the Logo of the Midnight Riders...It has a much more traditional and badge look to it and it is very classy....Any revs fans care to comment or possibly post a pic of it? since i don't know how to....It would also stay with tradition since the logo has been around since day one.... Just a thought... Nate
When the Dallas logo is in a small size it looks like a crow. You have to see it in a large scale to realize that that thing is a horse.
IMO there are many baseball teams that have extremely classy and smart-looking logos. The Red Sox, Cubs, Tigers, White Sox, Mariners, Athletics...
You're exactly right. The Atlanta Falcons (NFL) have just redesigned their logo, and will debut their new unis next month. It looks okay; just an updated version of the old one, but still looks, as an AJC reporter said, "like a spray nozzle" . It took me 30-something years to realize that the bird is supposed to look like the letter "F." Or, like a spray nozzle .
What is old is now new again. They used back it back during the Jorge DelyVeldes (sp?) hey dey, circa 1998-1999 or so.
Re: Re: Best/Worst MLS Logos Yep. Probably the only good thing that Reebok ever designed. Whole heck of a lot better than what they cobbled together from the burned and stomped remains of a decent design for New England (note, I am a former bitter Revs fan, and the bitterness hasn't quite worn off yet, someday soon, I may be a full time Revs fan again, so I may still need it).
Not bad overall. Here's my opinion: 1. DC United (and the old TB Mutiny one was great) 2. Chicago Fire 3. New England Revolution (though it could use a little reworking, but the general idea is good) 4. Columbus Crew (I realize I'm in the minority, but I think it looks cool) 5. LA Galaxy (OK, but unimpressive) 6. Dallas Burn (great idea but very poor graphic. Something like the new Dallas Mavericks logo would be a huge improvement, as the horse with lightning is a very fertile image if they get the graphics tighter. I suggest not trying to get the entire horse into the logo, but concentrating on it's head) 7. KC Wizards (actually, it doesn't look too bad now, but the idea of a wizard has a lot of unused potential. The Washington Wizards one is a step in the right direction, but I'm sure KC could do even better) 8. Metros (shield is nice, but it's a complete ripoff of the DC United supporter's group the "Screaming Eagles" and the actual logo that simply says "MetroStars" is quite lame IMHO) 9. SJ Quakes (horrible) 10. Colorado Rapids (changing from the old graphic was a good idea, but the new one just plain stinks IMHO, generic, uninspiring, no symbolism, no identity, it's really underselling their team) I am most disappointed with the Dallas and KC logos because they have such great symbols that are either not portrayed at all (Wizards) or portrayed by a very poor graphic (Azerbache horse for the Burn). Metros' shield is cool, but it's not their logo. That old logo accross their chest should be changed. The Revolution's concept is good, but it might be time for an update to the actual graphic. It could be a little sharper. The Village People references to the Crew logo are just dumb, it's a construction crew that helped build the tradition. It's a cool logo ... get over the 3rd grade humor and look at the logo, it's cool. The NBA does a decent job of weaving the basketball into their logos, but I'm not a big fan of it most of the time. When you get something like the Miami Heat logo, sure, but much of the time it looks forced IMHO. Likewise, I think some of the worst logos in MLS are ones that force the soccer ball onto the logo, like San Jose, Colorado, and KC. Any logo is going to have fans and detractors, but those are my opinions on the current crop of logos. -Digital
I feel that the Revs logo is so freaking cheesey. Seriously, someone should change that. I know a lot of people on the Revs boards like it, but it is honestly a horrible logo. If you put it over a blue jersey, the colors become red and blue stripes. It's a joke. I am also not a fan of the Crew, Burn, and Galaxy logos. All should be redesigned. As for the Metros logo, the team lost a major chance to do something big with it. They missed the opportunity. It is a marked improvement over the old logo, however it still sucks.
As a DC supporter your opinion should be humble. Therefore, your 'IMHO' is understood by one and all. A shield is a shield. I wouldn't know how Metro's is a ripoff of the cackling chicken's design, since I have never bothered to give it a look, but I'll take your humble word for it. Maybe the chicks can come up with a witty, ripoff song they can sing to us at the next meeting. Or just a song. Expecting wit is pushing it.
Wow, that sure is witty. Pot ... meet kettle. Sigh ... so typical. Just FYI, there is a Rivalries forum if you think this sort of stuff is funny. It never ceases to amaze me how some fans honestly think they are humorous. There really should be an age limit on posting. I know, I know ... I shouldn't feed the trolls. But from the looks of this one's attempt at humor, it's obvious that anorexia has set in. -Digital
The best logo is Chicago's. Using an old fashioned fireman's badge was a great idea--creative and unique yet giving a classic look for an expansion team. The worst logo belongs to--as the badge calls them--"THE CREW". Using the Village People is almost as bad an idea as was putting brown fringe (think fake leather) across the chest of the uniforms of "The Caribous of Colorado" in the NASL. And while the new MetroStars logo might be okay on its own, it loses many style points for "borrowing" the black & red quatered shield design from their arch-rival's supporters group.
DC United's is the best and the Crew's is the worst. It used to be the Metroscum, but theirs got better.
I'm sure that was their intention I think anyone not a fan of the team whose logo/colors/uniform you are commenting upon should be banned from doing so, but I've made that well known in the past.
Here's one Burn fan who hopes that HSG's first official act as Burn I/O is to can the team's present logo. "Burn" as a team name is pretty bad, but it least it kind of grows on you. But Dallas' logo looks like it was done by some high school kid.
I have to disagree here, I always end up inadverdently flipping off real firefighters when I see that thing on their cars.
Now that's funny! As for Metro somehow "ripping off" the DCU supporters' design, we didn't. It's unfortunate, but the quartered heraldic shield just looks like that. I'm no fan of the new Metro logo. I was always fond of both the Crazy Taxi and the Exploding City logos. I know. I'm the only one. C in SJ
