I think this would be more on topic on The Beautiful Game board. I'll move it there.

Giggs', Jones' and Bellamy's Welsh team is doing quite well in Euro 2004 qualifying. I'd have to say they are possible for a spot in the next WC.

Also, Ukraine missed out on WC 2002 in the playoffs to Germany, so Shev making the WC isn't out of the realm of possibility.

In terms of goalkeepers, I would say Gabor Kiraly rather than Paul Jones. Jaaskelainen is a possibility, but I don't rate him as highly as the Hungarian.

I noticed that Aussies (Kewell, Viduka) were left off now that they have a pretty easy path to 2006.

A few years ago Weah and Yorke would be at the top of the list, but they have fallen way off.

Keano isnt back in the frame.
The manager left him out of the squad for the next game against scotland.
    Keano's international career is over..

Sticking with the Oceania region, you can say the same thing about New Zealand. They'll give the Socceroos a decent run for their money in qualifying, but somehow, I think that the MLS-based Kiwis such as Duncan Oughton, Simon Elliott and Ryan Nelsen, as well as maybe South Melbourne's Vaughan Coveny, will play in a World Cup finals campaign at some point in their careers.

As for the topic itself, I'll brainstorm some other names later-- likely those based in MLS-- but I'll start off by bringing up a couple of El Salvador internationals... Mauricio Cienfuegos and Ronald Cerritos. A pair of quality professionals who certainly deserve the chance to play on a bigger international stage...

    Cheers,
    William

Does anyone that isn't a Quakes fan really rate Joe Cannon that highly?

I still stand by the Magyar.

Kerr was in the job 3 days! He was never going to be in that squad, Kerr has said he will be talking with Keane shortly and we will know by the time the next competitive match rolls around. Giggs and Bellamy will be at the next WC I'd say, and Niemi would be my keeper in that team.

either way lawmill - but if someone so much as gets selected, travels with the team and dresses, he is out - but most should come from countries that have no shot

I agree. Niemi is class. Rangers were stupid to let him go. He's much better than anyone that's played between the sticks for them since then.
