I can't believe that Diego Armando Maradonna aka 'Player of the Century' has not even been passed for consideration. Is this deliberate?

This thread should have been titled 'Best Striker in the past 25 years (excluding Maradonna)'.

The title of this thread is best striker. Baggio is not a striker. Maradona is not a striker. Zico is not a striker, etc. etc. etc.

25 years takes us back to World Cup 1978. And the best striker was, OF COURSE, Mario Kempes. :)

It's too bad we can't go back a little further, because Gerd Mueller is definitely the best pure striker of all time. And this would please our German friend, soccerfreak #1.

Maradonna - Midfielder AND Striker. Exclusive striker? Then no.

Van Basten! His Euro 88 appearance made him a legend.

And I also don`t understand why Rummenige isn`t on the list.

He was a machine on the field. Almost unstopable.

And what about Klinsmann? He, Klinsi was even named footballer of the year in England.

Baggio was a forward, so was Zico, Maradona played slightly deeper. There is no way you could count Maradona as a striker, Baggio is only just one.
