    15 points by June 1st and second overall in the league. This has to be one of our better starts to a season. With how many points will we end the season?

    Just some stats I culled from mlsnet.com (game recaps):

    2002 12-14-2 (38pts) ==> 41pts (normalized for 30 game season)
    June 1: 3-5-1 (10pts)
    9 games: 3-5-1 (10pts)
    July 4: 5-9-1 (16pts)

    2001 7-14-6 (27pts) ==> 30pts
    June 1: 3-7-0 (9pts)
    9 games: 3-6-0 (9pts)
    June 23: 4-7-3 (15pts)

    2000 13-13-6 (45pts) ==> 42pts
    June 1: 5-4-4 (19pts)
    9 games: 3-2-4 (13pts)
    May 20: 4-3-4 (16pts)

    Below is adjusted for shootout (win or loss counted as tie). Shootout record in square brackets[].

    1999 7-13-12 (33pts) [5-7] ==> 31pts
    June 1: 2-3-5 (11pts) [2-3]
    9 games: 2-3-4 (10pts) [1-3]
    June 13: 3-3-6 (15pts) [3-3]

    1998 9-17-6 (33pts) [2-4] ==> 31pts
    June 1: 3-4-3 (12pts) [1-2]
    9 games: 3-4-2 (11pts) [1-1]
    July 4: 4-9-3 (15pts) [1-2]

    1997 11-13-8 (41pts) [4-4] ==> 38pts
    June 1: 6-3-3 (21pts) [2-1]
    9 games: 3-3-3 (12pts) [2-1]
    May 24: 4-3-3 (15pts) [2-1]

    1996 9-15-8 (35pts) [6-2] ==> 33pts
    June 1: 2-3-2 (8pts) [1-1]
    9 games: 2-3-4 (10pts) [3-1]
    July 6: 3-5-6 (15pts) [4-2]

    One interesting tidbit I found. The Revolution once beat LA in LA in front of over 60,000 fans. July 4 1996, NE1:LA0, Attendance 62,703. Unfortunately, the significance of the games was not symetrical as well.

    Edit: Added season totals and total points adjusted to 30 game season.

    45+

    The Revs are currently 2 games over .500 at 4-2-3.

    Even if they go .500 the rest of the way to, say 13-11-6, would be 45 pts. I gotta believe it would take significant injuries for that to happen, since we have yet to play Colorado (3 games) or DC (4).

    The "power ranking" printed by USA today last week showed the Revs among the highest in difficulty of opposition, and another game against KC only adds to that.

    The MS, by the way, had about the easiest sched up to that point.

    We've had 7 games against KC, Cbus, SJ and Chicago - all among the best of the early season, plus 1 each against weak sisters Dallas and LA (hee-hee).

    Although all this bodes well for the road ahead, we will be playing teams that are in desperate need to turn things around and they're not all likely to fail.

    I am rather concerned that Joseph may not ready as soon as hoped, and I think he's been the key in pushing the Revs up a level to this point.

    I dont mean to be cynical, but guys, 44 points by the end of the year?? How many games to we have? That might be a *tad* unrealistic.

    Nine games played, 21 left. Maximum possible points from remaining games = 63. Currently we have 15 points. If we go 9-10-2, our point total becomes = 44. It's highly possible!

    If we maintain the current winning percentage (15/27), we would earn 35 more points for a season ending total of 50 points! Joy & rapture in Rev's FantasyLand..!!!!

    Well, it's hard to map out the rest of the season, but for the next handful of games, this is how I see it shaping up:
    @ Colorado -- D 4-2-4 -- 16
    @ DC -- W 5-2-4 -- 19
    H Colorado -- W 6-2-4 -- 22
    H Metros -- W 7-2-4 -- 25
    H Dallas -- W 8-2-4 -- 28

    Or even (perish the thought) a loss to the Mutts would put is at 25 points (7-3-4) less than halfway through the season.

    Or at our current point rate, we'd be 12-6-9 (45) with 3 more games to go.

    A plea to the higher power of Soccerdom

    O great & powerful Pele,

    Please lift this jinx that I have brought upon the Revo's. I should not have tempted fate by starting this poll nine games into the season. It was foolish of me to "count my goals before they are scored." Please let the Rev's rise up in the table and let another, more deserving team (How about those Metro's, eh?) feel your wrath. Oh great and powerful Pele I beseech you, please, please lift this curse.

    May Taylor continue to find the back of the net.

    AMEN

    May Joe-Max ,Wolde , Noonan & Cancela find the back of the net.

    AMEN

    May Steve Ralston rain down the wings with assist after assist.

    AMEN

    May Adin please get several clean sheets.

    AMEN

    May Rusty, Joey, Daouda, Carlos & Jay not be carded.

    AMEN

    Please keep the team injury free.

    AMEN

    Please keep Slyde the Fox from peeing down the middle of the pitch. It's leaving a disgusting yellow mark on the field.

    AMEN

    Please let the Rev's win either the Open Cup or the MLS Cup this year.

    AMEN

    Oh, Pele, please I ask these things of you.

    [tongueincheek]
    We've got 23 points with 10 games remaining. If we finish the year 5-0-1 like last year, that 16 more points for a total of 39. So, we only need to win 2 of the next 4 for 6 points to get us to 45!
    [/tongueincheek]
    ;)
