I would have also given some consideration to Jimmy McAlister (Kennedy), Mark Peterson (somewhere in Tacoma--either Wilson or Stadium), Jason Dunn (North Thurston). All three were Rookies of the Year--the first two in the NASL and Dunn in the A-League, back when it was the top tier. All were capped at some point.

I think Russell and Prideaux were already A-League starters when that list was prepared.

And to answer your question, nobody from the east side of the Cascades. Most of those players listed were Seattle-Bellevue based, except Henderson (Everett), Durgan, Stock, Goulet (all Tacoma), and Keller (Olympia area).

It is New Rochelle. I wouldn't be suprised if it was Port Chester. My HS team used to get thumped by them in the mid-80's. I remember their teams as being mostly Hispanic, very little English spoke by their players on the field.

Mt. Vernon is a Professional Football and Basketball factory.

Some states produce a lot of players like California, it's real big. Thus I'm surprised to see New York as lacking a supply. After all, several current MLSers are from Texas.
    As a side note,
I seem to recall New Jersey as having a LOT of really good soccer players for such a small state.
They produced Ramos, Eskandarian, Harkes, Reyna, Meola, Tim Howard, Eddie Gaven, Kenny Arena, Bob Bradley, Danny Szetela, and I'm sure others that I'm leaving out.

Seriously, give it about 2-3 years and you'll probably be right.

There's better players from Maryland. I mean, given the fact that he actually played (and scored) in a World Cup, you might have to go with Bruce Murray, though Gooch could eventually knock him off that pedestal.

There's also Dante Washington, who is probably better all time but in danger of losing that to Gooch as well.

Yeah I the majority of the early new age (1990ish) of US players came from NJ. Lalas may be another from NJ, I'm pretty sure he played at Rutgers.

    Arena is from Virginia.

Was Szetela born in the U.S.?

Might be a bit off topic, but Jersey's "state team", if all their good players were at their top level, would kick most other state team asses, with the possible exception of California....there, it'd be a push ;)
BTW, the inclusion of Kenny is highly harmful to that premise i just stated :D

Wasn't there a thread that listed all-time state teams? Where did that disappear to?

There have been a couple threads offering *current* state teams, not sure about all-time. Should I post state XIs?

Hey, thank a lot!..... Illinois D has great potential, give me NJ (my home state) midfield and goalies (Timmy or Fat Tony) .... Cali looks solid throughout, but don't they have a GK more solid, or at least consistent than Rimando? Weird....

From the NJ all time crowd whom i can think from the top of my head, counting the last 15 or so year that our players have been improving dramatically, certainly Meola, Harkes, Ramos stand out....

Not to take this too seriously (WARNING: I am about to take this to seriously)
but how are players jedged to be state eligible. If Dante Washington is eligible for Virginia based on his college days, even though he grew up in Maryland, can't Missouri get McBride or even a Selowane?

At this point, I'd probably say Scott Vermillion for Kansas rather than Sutton (though we'll see) or Cloutier (or Brian Loftin, for that matter).

Will John is another possibility for the near future for eclipsing these players...he went to a Jesuit high school located in Missouri, but he's from the Kansas side of the line.

Virginia might prefer Abe Thompson over Ashe or one of those other players.

I'm counting birth, youth soccer, or "hometown" listing. The USL website listed Dante Washington's hometown as Manassas, VA - that's apparently his permanent residence.

Is this current or for all time? I'm thinking the following from Missouri:
    Harry Keough
    Ty Keough
    Brian McBride
    Frank Borghi
    Frank "Pee Wee" Wallace
    Frank Borghi
    Charlie "Gloves" Columbo
    Leo Lange
    Virgino "Gino" Pariani
    Pat McBride
Five of these people beat the Brits in 1950.

    Can foreign internationals count too?
If so, for the 11s listed, maybe Jamaican international Ziadie could make it over a college player for Florida?
