To commemorate whatever's coming out this week (It is this week, isn't it?), I thought I would start this thread in celebration of one of BS's most disputed bands. Love em, hate em, these are their best songs. I'll put mine in a top ten format, but you need not feel similarly obliged.

    1) Aneurysm
    2) Drain You
    3) Lounge Act
    4) Heart Shaped Box
    5) Come As You Are
    6) Dive
    7) Smells Like Teen Spirit
    8) Very Ape
    9) About a Girl
    10) Pennyroyal Tea

My top 3 are as follows:
    1. Plateau (from the Unplugged Album)
    2. Lithium
    3. Heart Shaped Box
      [/list=1]
I'm not quite sure why Plateau is my favorite song, but I just like it. Perhaps it's because I can sing along easily to yet(and understand the words), unlike many other Nirvana songs.

BTW, my favorite album is the Unplugged album.

I like the one where he blew his head off with a Shotgun. And then at his funeral, Courtney Love made it with his dead body. That was sweet.

The version of Negative Creep on Muddy Banks of the Wishkah is good. I like Molly's Lips, Son of a Gun, that song where he utters, "Grandma take me home, I wanna be alone", Lithium and In Bloom the best. Drain You is cool as hell but I can't stand the 1 minute of near silence in the middle.

I'm not impressed with that 'new' one that had all the lawsuits with it, but I do quite like Rape Me [Mr. Leslie], Heart shaped box, endless nameless (the hidden one on Nevermind) and Come as you are, if only for the line 'and I don't have a gun'.

The Nirvana version of Man who sold the world's good as well. It's a hell of a lot better than Lulu's, but I like Bowie the most.

Yeah, that song is great too. I don't know how I left it out. Everytime I listen to it I think about how much better his voice makes that song sound than anyone else's I can think of doing that song. He was one the singers I've heard imo.

Apparently Hole has had a cover of it floating around the net for a long time now but I don't think most people realized it was a cover. It sucks. Surprise, surprise.

The new one is seriously growing on me. I've heard it three or four times. There are so many wannabe NIrvanas out there that imitate, but you can't fake the sincerity. The guitar and bass interplay is really interesting. At the very end, the guitar plays those three or four notes like the wind touching a bell They're positively beautiful, something that the band's imitators wouldn't even think about thinking about. It does sound a little bit half-cooked, but at the same time, it blows away everything else that's in rotation at the moment.

    1) Something in the Way
    2) On a Plain
    3) Polly
    4) Heart Shaped Box
    5) Where Did You Sleep Last Night (I know it's a
Ledbelly song but whenever I hear the
    unplugged version it's still haunting)

And tons more that I can't think of right now.

Ok, actually I Hate Myself & Want to Die isn't my favorite Nirvana song ever, but the title is genius

Such a great song to end the performance with. You can just hear the pain in Kurt's voice.

In Bloom and Rape Me are my favorite songs. As for Cobain himself I thought he was a great songwriter but a lousy singer. His voice is kinda annoying when he's screaming its very grating.

LOL... I apologize for having a wide ranging taste in music? :D

    <ahem, serious voice now>
There's actually a lot of overlap in fan base between Nirvana and hip hop. You may be surprised to see how often MCs and DJ/producers cite Nirvana (and Led Zep) among their influences.
    <end serious voice>

I looked for "I don't believe you" on Limewire but with no success. Which album is it on?
