Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells. And I dont care, I loved the Jurassic Park soundtrack.
And I'm amazed that nobody's piped in with those god-awful Phillip Glass homages to his pompous self movies that nobody can pronounce. Good god. How the hell can anyone actually like that crap?
You beat me to it. Cinema Paradiso and The Mission are a couple of my favorites. Both by Ennio Morricone. And the piano solos in Legend of 1900 are un-freaking-real!
The soundtrack from I Shot Andy Warhol is one of my favorites. It's chock full of good cover tunes. Luna does a cover of "Season of the Witch". REM covers "Love is All Around". Wilco does a Neil Young tune. Bettie Serveet covers Dylan and Jewel does Donovan's "Sunshine Superman". Plus there are other tunes from Yo La Tengo, Pavement (the one clunker on the album), Lovin' Spoonful, Ben Lee, MC5, Love and Segio Mendes. They also included the score written by John Cale on the CD. Very good pick-up for anyone into the 90's indie rock scene. Does the Bueno Vista Social Club count as a soundtrack? If so, I'd put that one up there as a favorite too. Murf
Are you referring to Koyaanisqatsi & Powaqqatsi + the third one I can't remember? They're directed by Godfrey Reggio. As far as the movies, I quite liked them. Soundtrack certainly sounds dated, but the films are nice. I realize of course that I have very suspect tasted.
Yo' damn right. But not because of 'Lust for Life', which everyone has heard. 'Mile End' is one of my favorite songs ever.
valley girl - 2 classic plimsouls cuts plus sparks, psychedelic furs, men at work, josie cotton, payola and the first flick to use 'melt with you' and i second on oceans 11 and the commitments surprised nobody's mentioned the pink panther or raiders of the lost ark, IMO john william's high point plus a good replacements song 'within your reach' and cult of personality
Whaaaat??? STAR WARS and E.T. are the best complete Soundtrack made for movies ever!!!! And about only songs "Jaws" and "The Godfather" main themes!!!!!
Mishima, score by Philip Glass Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, score by Tan Dun Koyaanisqatsi, score by Philip Glass Naqoyqatsi, score by Philip Glass Alexander Nevsky, score by Sergei Prokofiev Ararat, score by Mychael Danna Punch Drunk Love Regarding John Williams, the Star Wars stuff totally fit the bill. Interestingly, his "serious" (concert) music is nothing like his film scores. A lot of it is fairly modern. Most folks would have no idea it was written by him.
I remember first seeing Marcel Camus' "Orfeu Negro" (Black Orpheus) in a revival house many years ago back in the '70's. I was so taken with it I felt compelled to run out the next day and hunt down the soundtrack LP. It's the only time I've ever done that with a movie. The score is by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa.
A few of my faves Casino Rushmore Bronx Tale Lock Stock etc. Saturday Night Fever The Mission Quadrophenia Big Night
Wow, there is someone who likes that album ! I am a big Queen fan and all, but i would rather buy a second copy of Hot Space before forcing myself to get Flash. And of course the Highlander soundtrack is far superior (i have not only the Queen album, but also the orchestral version, which isn't that good if i am honest).
My all-time fav soundtrack...musicianship....lyrical content....hard, sexy, cool....and Curtis Mayfield's silky smooth vocals...the bomb Here's a couple more: "Wild Style" Soundtrack.....hip hop as it was in the beginning...Double Trouble....GrandWizard Theodore...the ColdCrush Brothers...a veritable who's who of underground innovators "Black Ceaser"....James Brown and JBs at their funkies....get this record for the instrumental 'Blind Man Can See It' alone - that's the tune Das EFX copped for 'They Want Efx'
