The parade was nice, loads of fans, lots of singing and fantastic sunshine. Really made for a good carnival atmousphere. The streets started to fill up at about 8am this morning and it was packed by the time the parade started. The most memorable moment though was when the players step out and say something to the fans. Ray Parlour's turn came and he said " I want to sing you a little song and I want you all to join in" He then sang " My Old Man, said to be a Tottenham Fan, I said " and he then held out the microphone to all th3e fans below the town hall, and a huge deafening chorus of "************ off B******s your a C***" reverberated around Islington. it was also broadcast on live TV which was brilliant. What a day to remember......
After the players left the town hall on the bus, i headed straight back to Highbury to soak up the atomsphere outside the ground. It was fantastic, a real party, drinks spilling everywhere, street volley ball with the police. Everytime a bobby booted the ball back a chorus of GOOONER GOOONER reverberated around the 300 odd people outside the marble halls! When the police tried to clear us off, we broke out into a chorus of "sit down if you hate tottenham" to which 80-90 revellers proceeded to park their bums on the floor and then started singing "Are you tottenham in disgrace" to the police. Lovely stuff! Lets go fukin mental, lets go fukin mental la la la la, la la la la!!!
The words to the sing get blocked out but I will spell it badly - "My Old Man said be a Tottenham fan, I said fcuk off billocks your a c u n t" Its a populat terrace song. As to the video of it, I daresay Sky only broadcast the live version, I know that it was cut from the repeats. I do have it recorded on video, but don't know how to put it to MPEG. If anyone can tell me I will happily send it to them.
LoL! Thanks rick! I would really want to have the video too. Unfortunately, I dont know the exact procedures to converting videos to MPEGs
