Z Burger makes a good shake. Last week I order a chocolate chip cookie shake, they misheard my order & gave me something else. It was even better. I wish I knew what it was so I could order it again.
I drove quite a ways to get a Chocolate and banana shake from Sonic Sat. night. I have been wanting to try a shake from there for a while but had not for whatever reason. My one complaint, and it's a sad one as complaints go - was there was too much real banana residue at the bottom of the cup. This was only a problem because I was driving, it would have been much more manageable sitting still. It was delicious even with the chunks in my straw.
It's so difficult to find a Foster's Freeze, I don't even know if they're still in business. It's been 3 years since I've been to one, the boysenberry shake is my favorite.
We used to say on my old neighborhood site who made the best malteds? Everyone had a different opionions. Malteds and milk shakes are like art it is subjective its all in the taste buds of the drinker. It like who's mother was the best cook
Just had my annual McDonald's Shamrock Shake earlier today. I plan to have at least one more on or near St. Patrick's Day next month. -G
After having always been my go-to place for my annual Pumpkin Pie milkshake previously, Jack in the Box didn't have it for the second consecutive year. So like last year, I had one at Baskin-Robbins yesterday instead. It was still very good, but it was a bit more expensive. Unfortunately, there was also no sign of the Jack in the Box Egg Nog milkshake, which had been another annual Jack in the Box staple (alongside the Pumpkin Pie milkshake) until last year. -G
And it's now official: Jack in the Box doesn't have an Egg Nog milkshake for the second consecutive year. Their holiday milkshake this year instead seems to be the Peppermint & Oreo milkshake, which I did try a few weeks ago. Fortunately for me, McDonald's does currently have an Egg Nog milkshake which I had yesterday, so not all is lost this year. -G
Chick-Fil-A makes great shakes. Cook Out makes pretty good shakes. And Steak & Shake is pretty decent too.

I actually tried a Shamrock shake for the first time last year due to a curiosity that stemmed from your annual posts about getting them. It was a pretty enjoyable shake, better than I expected.. I ended up getting a few more (thoroughly enjoyed those too) and figured I'd see them around again next season, but I've been trying to get one for the last 3 weeks at multiple McDonald's location and have had no such luck. In fact, at all the locations I've asked, they simply said they haven't even received them this year. Not sure how you were able to get a hold of one, but I strongly resent you, sir!
I'm glad that I could help! Ironically, that was sort of the situation around here until a few years ago. The Shamrock Shake was always available annually during my childhood (which also included TV commercials with Grimace's Irish uncle Uncle O'Grimacey) but almost completely disappeared for many years afterwood until it appeared again sporadically throughout the mid-late 2000's (i.e. available one year, not available the next, etc.), but then universally became available annually again about 2-3 years ago... or at least so I thought. Sorry about that. -G
Milk shakes I could take or leave, but give me a malted. The best malted I ever had was in a candy store in italian Harlem right near the subway station on east 103 street near Lexington Ave right on the Duffy hill in Manhattan. They filled up the whole can for 25 cents.
Every one I have ever had is simply a milkshake with malted milk powder added - so yummy, but you do have to be in the mood. Usually I get a chocolate malted. Like a cup of cold, thick Whoppers™
I can imagine eating a cold Whopper. I certainly can't imagine one put through a blender, put in a cup and refrigerated.
I don't usually do shakes, but I'll toss out a plug for Wendy's Vanilla Frosty. I like mine with saltine crackers crumbled up in it.
