For your entertainment value, which league is the most exciting and competitive; EPL, Serie A or La Liga ?

Serie A La Liga and Le Championat.
Premier League only when Arsenal play and when Manure lose. La Liga only when Valencia and perhaps Celta Vigo play.Bundelsiga only when Leverkusen/Werder/Stuttgart/Hannover play.

Bundesliga has been very competitive and exciting this year with Bayren not dominating. EPL is boring same 2 teams win it.

I think the best league is La Liga because of the amount of teams that have serious ambitions to win the league. Real Madrid are there also. Barcelona have had an awful few seasons, no CL and now they're coming back, beating Valencia 1-0 at the Mestalla. I usually only watch Real Madrid matches because of Zidane and co. What makes it more exciting than all those stars is that every team in the the league want to win so badly so raise their games for Real Madrid.
I also like the refereeing, like that Zamorano guy who sent off I think it was 6 or 7 in the Barcelona v Espanyol derby.

EPL is the best. But not as good this season because Arsenal have run away with it.

I think the Bundesliga is most entertaining, propably because I know more about it than the other leauges ;-)
And there are more teams that can surprise you, besides bayern, who are almost everytime challenged with European Championships, too, the teams are on an equal level, so it is just more exciting than Italy (~4 Top teams), Spain (~4 top teams) or England (~3 Top teams)...
    nothing important, just my opinion...

    Arsenal run away with it?
How soon we forget last season.Obviously the circumstances are different with Rio and now silvestre out,but writing Man U off is a no no.I'm hopping Arsenal win it because their way of playing the game is just beautiful in my eyes.Next season they will not win it and i really do believe that it will be the best season ever in the EPL.
Man U will be an absolute monster with the roster they have,it's just too deep. Now that Saha is there with that intangible that Man U have always lacked, they will not only win the league but everything else in thier path if they want it.
I believe teams like Bolton will improve, Liverpool must improve because their fans won't allow anything else. But them almost certain to sign Cisse next season will be very interesting. But they will need some defence though.Fulham need to use some o that Saha money and invest it into maybe a guy like Larsson or even Drogba.
Man City really need to secure some decent midfield creativity in order to keep Anelka wanting to play for them or he's off,and they will be finished.

I would say the EPL because that's the only league i see on a frequent basis, even though this second half hasn't been as exciting as the first.

Personal opinion it would be Serie A . They have the best teams from 1 to 20 than any division.

You take EPL, La liga and Bundaliga throw out the top 3 or 4 teams and what you have left is nothing but a bunch of teams trying to stay out of Division 2.

What they should do.. Is take the top 4 teams in each division and just make a division of there own, play a normal 30 game season and see who really is the best. other than Champions league. Champions league one bad game can mean your going home. The teams in Champions league are so good that if one team is hot... no other team stands a chance against them. In a 30 game season you have your ups and downs where in there specific divisions.. if say Manchester U is having a bad day against.. Blackburn they still have a decent chance to win based on the fact they are that much better.

If Manchester U is playing Real madrid and they are playing bad.. they are going to lose that game. It would be far more entertaining to see the top teams battle it out year after year.. Who wouldnt like to see Manchester United or Real madrid in 10 place or even Last place ;)

I always avoid threads like this because I know it's always relative. Some people love attacking football. La Liga and EPL will appeal to them. Others like defensive tactical football. Bundesliga and Serie A will appeal to them. Some people like very high scoreline like some games in Eridevise. Others love leagues based on the rivalries, like ManU/Arsenal, Valencia/Real M, Bayern/Borussia, Celtic/Rangers, Ajax/Feyenoord etc. This all factors into the excitement. So, it's all relative. But my choice is Serie A. No team can clearly dominate. This year, it's Roma/Milan/Juv. I love the rivalries too!

Let Me Set The Record Straight.

It is all relative...but let me say one thing that I hope everyone will recognise as true and therefore will stop making biased comments. SERIE A is by no means a league that is about defensive football...on the contrary it is completely the opposite. In the last 10 years of watching Italian football I have never seen such attacking spirit as I have seen this year. If anyone on these boards have seen teams like Lazio, Milan, Roma, Parma or Lecce play then you will know what I am talking about. Indefinitley there has been so many goals recorded this year (even aggainst the supposedly stronger sides) that it is nearly impossible to keep track. With players like Kaka, Cassano, Maresca, Totti, Sheva, Adriano, Chevanton, and ADP this has been a year entirely about providing entertainment for the fans. Attractive football is taking Serie A by storm and I hope it stays that way..

well,i don't get to see a lot of italian fotball, only the games of the champions league. But based on the recent season i would have to say the EPL is or becoming the best league in Europe. With Arsenal doing waht the did to Milan and what a full sided United doing what they did to Juve and other in the U.S. i think it's a new era in English football.
I do believe next season will be even more successful though. When you Man U have a full side again, the Chelsea team start to Gel more and Arsenal defending thier title it will be very good.

I think this thread needs a little refining.

If you are looking each league, it is obvious that this year the Bundesliga is the highest drawing league in Europe. With old stadiums either recenty replaced /soon to be replaced by newer football temples, and tickets far cheaper than in either England Spain or Italy, the Buli still remains a game for the people. Hence crowds are booming, even ihe quality of the average Buli player is decreasing with every year in comparison with those in La Liga, the EPL and the Serie A.

However if you are looking for a league that generates the most revenue, you'd have to look at England. With Murdoch pumping millions into 'his product' there is next to blanket coverage on Sky in the UK (and Foxtel here in Oz ( ). This means better players, which is turn means a gradual improvement in the technique of the average EPL match. But take away the continentals and you'd surely get huff & puff Route 1 football all over again. Admit it, that in England only Arsenal, Man U and maybe Newcastle play football that is seriously worth getting excited about. Technically speaking, outside these teams the build ups are way way too fast. And players still cannot shild the ball from opponents.

Italy is the home of tactics in its football. It was definitely the best league in terms of football quality in the early 90s. But would you say that it provides a better class of player or match than La Liga or the EPL these days? Plus several clubs are in all sorts of strife financially.

Spain is the home of the beautiful game. Games are about showing good technique and generally attractive skilled football. Backheels, flicks, long hair and prettyboys are the name of the game.

I guess it al depends on what you define as BEST.

I follow FC Bayern, so the Bundesliga it is (even if the morons at the DFL do not try and promote the league more overseas). But I love the game, so will watch most matches (except much of the EPL because that is all you ever hear about in Oz.)

I believe that the CL is to determ exactly who has the best team in Europe.Germany doesn't have a team in the final 8 this year,so that answers that question.Next round may be interesting you can mke predictions here i guess, but i think Chelsea and Arsenal are in the best shpae to go through based on the fitness of the teams and rosters.Obviously Real Mad are an huge threat with Carlos and Ronaldo back, that's if they overcome their injuries.
France has two teams in the final 8 and you can call that the luck of the draw, but they are there.

The bundesliga has some impressive player and their stadiums are full to capacity ,i watch the games and it doesn't bore me.

    Ok... lets get things strait...

La Liga has attacking football... credit to you... u said that...
However I would not say that the EPL is attacking... it is really well balanced...

Germany is more conservative than England and only one team has a team of better than average players at every single position...

Italy is mainly a conservative and defensive league but you have teams like Roma, Milan and Juve that play attacking football...

I cant comment on the eridevise but clearly there is less parity in that league than the major leagues - Spain, England, Italy

Italy and Spain are both very interesting... Italy because of the class of players that they have... I believe they have more talent than any other league...

Spain has almost as much talent overall... but Italy has both offensive and defensive tallent and that is where Spain falls down...

England is fun and a good balance of attack and defense but not too much attacking and poor managing... too many conservative minds... everyone in England swears a 3-5-2 can never work but the money and prestige of clubs there help to ensure good football...

I would Say Spain because there is a higher number of teams who are competitive along with the high goal scores as well as a general disregard for defense... (note, i said general, not total...)

I like this quote. This is the reason England will never win anything ever again. They are just stuck in this way of football that represents Britain and won't do anything to waiver from it.

Keegan plays a 3-5-2, and Hoddle used to... Reason enough to avoid it if you ask me :)

Your comment seems ludicrous when you consider the number of foreign managers in the premiership (and Sven the England manager of course). Managers bring their own style and tactics with them.

The defining characteristic of the English Premiership is the high tempo at which matches are played. That seems to persevere.

England's problem is they lack players who "love the ball" that quick passing game doesn't work in Europe, or in the World Cup. I really would like players like Lampard and Joe Cole to be integrated into the team more. They have lovely talent at all positions.

"Fulham need to use some o that Saha money and invest it into maybe a guy like Larsson or even Drogba."

there's no way Drogba leave Marseille, and this guy is just magic a world top class forward...

imagine just 1 second, that every top french players would be still in french league, they are about 70 playing in EPL, serie A or liga, in this case french league would be the best by far, because with that fact, with got 1 club in the semis of CL and 2 in 1/4 in UEFA cup...

and why could these clubs stole our best players year after year, because every clubs in these championships can do what they want with money, they can spend money they don't have, "we have a debt of 1500 M€, not a matter, let's buy Zidane for 82 M€!" that's just totally crazy, and some big club will pay that, look at Fiorentina, I guess it was just a begining...

plus, in France, taxes are so important that it's impossible for french club to offer wages like it is in thes 3 championships...

but our championship is maybe the tightest, everybody can beat everybody, each year, it' impossible to guess who will be the champion before the end, and things changes, some big clubs have began to construct something strong, and they are very amibitious, I think they are able to keep their players, Monaco, Lyon, Marseille, maybe PSG are them, so I hope they'll continue to keep the head of the championship year after year and improve themself, and of course stop to sell their best players, of cours it will be difficult for Monaco who have some money difficulties, but I'm confident for a next future...
