1) Van Persie 2) Ayew 3) Messi 4) Marchisio 5) Dempsey 6) Honda 6) Balotelli 7) Seferovic 8) Robben 9) Neymar 10) Campbell
Completely agree, although I would swap Campbell and Neymar. Note that if the ref wasn't thinking about Brazil's goal differential, Dos Santos would be on this list for some excellent (Disallowed) goals.
Ayew's goal is a very odd miss from the list of best goals. Superb link up play before the goal. Van Persie is one, but Ayew's is second.
Dos Santos first maybe would have made the list. Ayew and Campbell belong too. I limited the choices to ten but there are others. I liked the play leading to Colombia's first, even though the final shot went in off a deflection. Also Benzema's last one from a difficult angle. Lots of great goals, it's good to be a fan.
Update after today ... I'm a sucker for left footed volleys ... 1) Cahill 2) Van Persie (vs. Spain) 3) Ayew 4) Messi 5) Marchisio 6) Dempsey 7) Honda 8) Balotelli 9) Robben (vs. Spain) 10) Neymar
1) Tim Cahill 2) Robin Van Persie (vs. Spain) 3) Andre Ayew 4) Lionel Messi 5) Claudio Marchisio 6) Clint Dempsey 7) Gervinho (vs. Colombia) 8) Honda 9) Balotelli 10) Robben (vs. Spain)
1) Tim Cahill (vs. Holland) 2) Robin Van Persie (vs. Spain) 3) Andre Ayew 4) Lionel Messi 5) Claudio Marchisio 6) Clint Dempsey 7) Gervinho (vs. Colombia) 8) Granit Xhaka 9) Keisuke Honda 10) Mario Balotelli
Would be nice to break this down further categories like mostly individual effort (gervino, cahill, messi, robben), and team goal (min 3 important passes before goal) For team goal, I would go with Chile's first versus Spain. That was a serious display of tight passing and off the ball movement.
1) Tim Cahill (vs. Holland) 2) Robin Van Persie (vs. Spain) 3) Andre Ayew (vs. USA) 4) Lionel Messi (vs. Bosnia) 5) Claudio Marchisio (vs. England) 6) Clint Dempsey (vs. Ghana) 7) Gervinho (vs. Colombia) 8) Granit Xhaka (vs. France) 9) Lionel Messi (vs. Iran) 10) Keisuke Honda (vs. Ivory Coast) Lots of beautiful goals. Every day a new goal gets into my top 10 list.
