I always thought that Hamann was pretty good at free kicks. But I suppose you could bring up the obvious ones in Veron and Beckham

    Beckham, without a doubt.

Other than that, Shearer, Zola and Di Canio lead the race for second-best.

    Cheers,
    William

So would Del Pierro, Harte, Van Hoijdonk (sp) and a few others who are all clearly better.

8 replies and no mention of Henry? I'd go with Henry, Harte, or Becks.

I think that Beckham is the best of course.....but for second place it would probably be Veron and Zola! Veron scored an awsome freekick against WestHam! Did anyone see it??

Without a doubt, David Beckham is the best.

Thierry Henry has also become quite deadly when he gets chances. He has 4(?) goals from free kicks this season.

Roberto Carlos would definitely be the most intimidating. I can't even imagine how scary it must be to be in the wall when he steps up.

Or in the stands behind the goal, since that is where his kicks most frequently end up.

freekick taker in the world but he is
not in the English Premier League.

Roberto Carlos is not even the best freecking taker in the Spanish League.
The best of Sp League is Marcos Assunçao.He plays in Betis and he has scored 4 free kicks this season thus far.

Beckham Has Scored So Many Amazing Goals From Free Kicks...
Roberts Goal Against Man U Last Season Was Impressive...
Still It Has To Be David Beckham...

On A Sidenote, Ian Harte Can Hit A Good Freekick Or Two...
    Against Man U Last Year...
Still His Defending Should Render Him On The Bench And Kewell Taking Freekicks...

Don't take this wrong, I got nothing againest carlos, but isn't it funny to call carlos a world class freekick taker if you consider his goal ratio from freekicks.

Last season Neil Clement was smacking them in from all over the place, this year he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo!

Jason Koumas is taking a cracking free kick at the moment.

Hamman hits the ball incredibly hard, but Beckhmas placement and power is truly the best around.

Being young still (17, 18 in March), I am partial to David Beckham. I grew up with David Beckham being the most marketed player to me and grew to a place where I believe he is sent from God. lol But, who each person thinks is best has some partiality to it. Right-footed is deffinitley David Beckham in my mind. But by free-kick do we mean 25 yards out, trying to shoot it on net? Or do we mean an 80 yard cross from a defender? In my mind though, the best crosser or shooter within a 40 yard range on a free-kick is Beckham.

Always though that lad from Leeds...harte was quite good....Becks a shade better and of course Zola.

For sheer power though i would take Hasselbaink a shade before Shearer.

If you ask David Seaman he'd say Hamann or Ziege.....or Ronaldinho.
