Hey, I'm trying to put together a kickas MLS favorites folder in my browser and am trying to find out the best fansites for all MLS teams.

I'm a Metrostars fan, so I don't know any for the other teams.

Could someone give me a link to the best one out there for Colorado?

    Thanks.

If I want the inside angles, then Rapidsfan is by far the best Colorado site. Know that it's largely the insights of one individual, and it isn't updated daily, more when Greenie feels like it or something comes up.

For the on-going issues, the MLSnet or the 'official' Rapids websites seem to lag behind the newspapers (boy, is that ever an insult!). We'll see if the new regime changes that.

USsoccerUK, a web site that is out of the UK by some soccer junkie who keeps up on the US often has some interesting takes and news. I suspect he's well connected. http://216.198.206.182/

We really need a 'news' unofficial (OK, even official is OK) that runs rumors, day-to-day info, etc. Rapidsfan is more analysis and would be complemented by some nuts and bolts stuff.

More accurately, it is when Greenie, JasonMa and others are able to update it. It's not like Rapidsfan is a profitable venture nor the spiritual center of our lives. :)

Not sure what more you (or anyone) can realistically expect out of any site, as there just isn't enough going on with the Rapids to warrant daily updates that are factual (as compared to editorial) in nature... and the team isn't exactly welcoming of those who choose to express editorial opinion.

I noticed that what you sai Greenie is overall truth around MLS team's webpages

...what about this The Dark Side Guy...so far he has done only one piece that deems as editorial...and that was answering some guy's question...

I hope this guys starts telling some things the way they are, as some columnists on MLS do!

Rapidsfan.com is okay, but it's all hearsay. There are no sources to their stories. If I understand this right it is done by Greenie and from what I remember Greenie isn't under the best of terms with the Rapids so where does he get his info?

We have not run one single story or opinion piece based on "hearsay" as you suggest. Just because Rapidsfan does not publicly list every one of its sources does not mean "there are no sources to their stories."

Rapidsfan articles frequently provide sources for information that is presented, such as each update we've made on coaching prospects in the past two weeks.

Rapidsfan does not post information when a contributor cannot vouch for its authenticity -- for example, we are not recognizing the Man City assistant coach as a candidate for the job as we have not seen that reported elsewhere publicly.

Rapidsfan is no different than any other outlet when it comes to information provided by sources that prefer to remain anonymous to the public. In this regard we are no different than the Bergen Record's report claiming that Hamlett is in the running -- citing only "league sources" -- nor are we any different than a television broadcaster who mentions "speaking to a number of players" about a subject.

This is why Rapidsfan remains completely independent, both in terms of being recognized by the team (we don't ask for credentials, access or any other treament afforded to "official" press) and in terms of sponsorship.

Finally, while it is true that certain members of the Rapids organization are sometimes displeased by the content presented on Rapidsfan, that does not mean that I am on negative terms with the team as a whole. On the contrary, many members of the current (and former) team staff are friends of mine as well as others associated with Rapidsfan.

i agree .. in my opinion it is not a very interesting website. Not much different substance.. just one man's editorials..feel alot is hearsay also.. lets see if his source is correct about pablo... i don't think he will be going anywhere...

Too many spoiled babies all around, willing to piss and moan and point fingers and the like, unwilling to start their own website.

rapidsfan.com is a great fan site. It's exactly that, a fansite. It's loaded with the opinions of a few rapids fans. That's the whole freaking point isn't it? It's not supposed to be the wall street journal.

I like reading rapidsfan.com. If you can do better let's see it. Otherwise sit down and shut up.

I can't believe that so many people have to come in here and vouch for Greenie after all these years. His articles and editorials usually all have reliable sources, and usually the best kind of source... first hand. I know this because I've seen his interaction with the team over the past few years. Rapidsfan.com is a quality website, that gives you an end product that advertises to be nothing more than what it is, but I garauntee that's more than second-hand and overtly opinionated prattle.

It's does my heart an ounce of good to actually see people question others over the internet though...

Exactly. Nobody should even be allowed to comment on RapidsFan.com unless they've created their own fan site. Want to talk smack? Start your own page then get back to us.

In fact, I'm only aware of one other fan page, http://www.rapidpassion.vze.com/
    and that thing's way outdated.

I agree and think it should be extended to other things as well.

No bitching about coaching until you show us you can coach better
No bitching about players until you show us, on the field, you can do better.

This complaining has got to stop.

I've never even heard of this site. I'd rank it 5th out of 4 (Rapidsfan; coloradorapids; intermark.com/rapids (Ed Eid); ussocceruk)

Everyone's entitled to their opinion - crazy though it may be. If they don't appreciate Greenie's (and others) efforts, so what. Let them get their filtered pablum somewhere else. I suspect their discomfort with rapidsfan is that they dont agree with the contributors - there's been no lack of disagreements in here. It's just easier for some to dismiss or marginalize others than it is to discuss things ("Spencer is an idiot!").

    Forza Rapidsfan!
    Forza NegrAzul!

Greenie, I'm tired of all these unsubstantiated charges about dope dealing cops, and homicidal police chiefs! GIVE ME SOMETHING I CAN PRINT!

Too many thing wrong with this post ... first rapidsfan isn't a one man show.

Second, if you actually READ what rapidsfan posted about Pablo, it says a team approached the Rapids ... not that the Rapids want to move Pablo ... so you're "let's see if" scenario will never play out.

Greenie may be THE best Rapids fan there is. He's doing behind the scenes things most of you have no idea about. He hosts and contributes to Rapidsfan out of his own pocket.

You may not agree with his viewpoints ... but he contributes to this club more than anyone outside of the club that I know of.

Yeah, I remember when someone got that going last year. If you want to talk about something that sucks, go visit along with the 800 or so others over the past year.

This is quite a debate over a one horse race.
