    You've gotta be kidding me.

You sure you remember 2005 correctly?
The Champions League? PSV reaching the semifinals? all those games?
against Lyon? scoring against AC Milan and beating them?

    c'mon.

there's a reason why he went to Manchester United after that.

2005 was the year Park was robbed of the CLEAR AFC Player of the Year award. IT was one of the biggest injustices of the AFC. That's the year things went downhill and haven't come up again for the AFC Plaeyr of the Year award. If Javad Nekonaum wins it this year (as he's the only one on teh lsit that deserves the nomination), than respect and credibility will be restored. Until then, AFC player of hte year award is a BIG JOKE.

Yeap. And the following year robbed from Nakamura. Don't ask me who should have got it last year though. But the list alone was a joke.. I seem to recall nobody on the list even played in the World Cup or Europe ... and not a single player from the Eastern side ?? Yet some guy playing in Cyprus was on it... in the end Al Qahtani doesn't seem like a bad choice but the entire procedure was a joke.

They've changed it this year. Apparently they're using a point system based on how many times you win a MOM award, and domestic league games don't count. I wonder what bizarre results will come out of this.

iircc they used some bougs weighted point system last year. at a glance you could tell it was bollocks made to fit what they wanted.

This is the award noone cares about. The award ceremony should be cohosted along with the International Magic the Gathering Best Player Award.

WOO finally some people on the list that deserve to be there at least from what ive seen:

    http://www.the-afc.com/eng/articles/viewArticle.jsp_168329776.html

So the current shortlist so far:
I personally believe Schwarzer is head and shoulders the best keeper in Asia. He has always been consistent for Club and National football and if he won it i think no one could really argue against it looking at the other names on the list.

Endo, i have no idea how he is domestically in the J-League, but ive watched him play in the Champions League and for Japan and he looks like he is a GREAT player, if he wins the award he would fully deserve it again like Schwarzer and compared to the rest on the list, no one can really argue against it.

Travis has easily been the best player for Adelaide through the Champions League, though i don't think he exactly would win it, though he is certainly better than some of the people already on the list, but i don't think winner worthy.

Good additions to the list. Still, alot of the others don't deserve to be there. Not sure how they came up with Burns for the shortlist. He's a good player & looks to have a great future ahead, but he didn't do a hell of alot of the past year.

At least they got Schwarzer in though. I'm not sure how I feel about Endo and Nakazawa on that list. I guess Ogasawara was DQ'd after getting injured. I suppose it could be worse... but really... no Nakamura? o_O
