With the FIFA U-17s and World Youth Championships (U-20s) this year as well as the emergence of Freddy Adu in the US and the likes of Wayne Rooney in England, I am curious who educated minds consider to be among the best young talent in the world today.

    Educate me, please!

Saviola, Mourad Meghni, and Javier Portillo (he's 20 though)

These guys got skill! Both Portillo and Saviola are superb finishers. They just have that killer instinct for the back of the net. Mourad Meghni is a French playmaker. In my opinion, he was the best creative midfielder in the U-17 world championships in Trinidad&Tobago. He has a superb touch and is even heralded as the next Zidane by some members of the media; he's my all-time favorite youngster to watch.

It would be nice if people can include their nationalities. Some of the players are unknown outside their home countries or even continent.

You honestly think Freddie Adu is better than Robinho an Fernando Torres? He shouldn't even be on the list, he's 13.

Are you not putting a lot of pressure on Adu?

Surely at 14 he should be enjoying his footy not having the hopes of an entire nation placed squarely on his shoulders.

You CANNOT judge how good a 13 year old will be when he gets in the Pros in about 4 years. First of all, beyond highlight reels how many full games have you seen of Freddy? How many full games have you seen of Robinho and Diego? Robinho is OK but the next great world player is DIEGO (18) of Santos. He has already proven that he is THE REAL DEAL. Adu is nothing but hype until he becomes a pro and does what he does at the pro level. END OF STORY.

Victor - he is my son and is only 18 months old... but his first word was "GOOOL" and he can kick with both feet. Im sure he is the best and will represent the US in a WC championship in the future.

He's expected to turn pro at 15. He's 14 tomorrow. Hence about one year. Not 4.

As for my pick, I agree Diego is phenomenal.

    Following one step b
Yes, well said, that African boy (13 years old??humm) still needs to show a lot, you can´t compare him with the rest of the U-20 and younger list of players! Come on, get real!
These are the ones from South America:
    *Tevez (Argentina-Boca Juniors)
    *Cavenagui (Argentina- River Plate)
    *Robihno (Brazil-Santos)
    *Diego(Brazil-Santos)
The four are already Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Argentinian A league players, Cavenagui and Tevez when they were younger)
And for sure there´s a lot of others and you will see how good is that Adu the day he face such a kind of competitions and face the best of the world.
