Wait for a journalist to post something. This is from a twitter account created this month with one tweet.
US Soccer statement. Statement from U.S. Soccer: pic.twitter.com/h2x5rgZvWA— U.S. Soccer (@ussoccer) January 3, 2023
US Soccer also released a statement Statement from U.S. Soccer: pic.twitter.com/h2x5rgZvWA— U.S. Soccer (@ussoccer) January 3, 2023 Which also says they will announce in coming days who will lead January camp.
It was an incident of simple assault over 30 yrs ago when he was 18-19. I think he should be dismissed for football reasons, not this. But surely it'll be capitalized on by some bad faith actors in the base. Interesting they'll name their manager w/in the next few days. In light of this, you figure it'll just be an interim manager & it won't be Berhalter. They can avoid an unnecessary hassle.
"U.S. Soccer has learned about potential inappropriate behavior towards multiple members of our staff by individuals outside of our organization" Further proof to me that we are the worst fanbase ever. Next steps will be that the federation will report or staff will leak a lot of horrible DMs from fans. Final step will be banning certain fans from games.
Should be judged on the job at hand. Not something from 30 years ago. Frankly I think it's asinine the Fed hired a law firm to investigate a matter from 30 years ago which has zero impact on the here and now.
Who would have the info on this incident from 3 decades ago? Has to be someone he or she have know for a long time. Also, what were they asking for? I assume money, wonder how much.
What a clusterf*** that this is what both Gregg and US Soccer are publicly addressing in January 2023... why even go through all this, the contract is over, both sides should just move on... Also it's incredible that the statement released by this account (not verified, not following anyone, joined January 2023 so within the last 2.5 days, with an underscore at the end of the username) is actually real and not a troll account stirring up **** with a fake statement... All you've gotta do is read Big Soccer and social media to know there are people with a desire to take down the USSF, USMNT, and USYNT staff. They have nothing constructive to contribute themselves. TO be honest this is the world we live in. It's a "gotcha" culture. Its not just our soccer community. People look for tweets or facebook posts from a long time ago to try to "catch" actors or politicians with something they said or did in the past. By the way, nobody should condone the behaviour alleged in the statement. But it does seem like the pair worked it out and are still married today.
If any of you think that I am overstating then just read the responses to the US Soccer tweet. Ninety percent is toxic bilge water. Bigsoccer is an oasis in comparison to twitter.
Someone with ulterior motives. That's who. Imagine if everyone here had the worst things they did at 18/19 dug up and relayed to their boss. SMH. The USSF shouldn't have even entertained such ridiculousness and given it legs. If my boss began investigating me for something I did at 18, which implies it's connected to who I am here and now, I'd quit before lunch.
It's a little confusingly phrased, but it sort of reads like he's saying that the blackmailer was only seeking for Berhalter not to continue as USMNT manager.
There's a reference to a law firm investigation -- my read between the lines on this fact and the multiple staff members is that someone with an axe to grind tried to blackmail multiple USSF employees, the fed felt obligated to investigate, and here we are. Presumably they needed to release the info because either the individual was going to leak or journalists were chasing leads.
You are exagerrating, I can't name a single poster that would be a suspect. I have a few blocked MLS haters, of course, but always thought those are just stupid kids.
