Buff...I remember reading that EC changed tactics over the break. Did they move from a 5-3-2 to a 4-4-2?

Kicker has them in a 4-4-2, but who knows?

They were in a 4-4-2 last week in their victory over Leverkusen on FSW. I would assume they would stay with that, with Gregg playing as one of the central defenders.

Yeah, I know they're in a 4-4-2 now...I meant, did they play the first part of the season in the 5-3-2?

Now 2-0. It should be near full time.

Gudjonsson pulls one back before the end, but Cottbus win.

    2-1, GB goes 90.

2 wins in a row for cottbus. A few more and they'll be out of the relegation zone.

3-5-2 in the first part of the season I think.

Bochum just had five shots on goal over 90 minutes, so the defence can't have been bad. I just remember two critical situations with Berhalter when he once was caught on the wrong foot and therefore allowed a dangerous cross by Christiansen, and in another scene he had some trouble getting the ball out of the box (but didn't get dangerous). But as I said, five shots on goal are excellent of the defence and naturally the TV highlights don't show the work of a defence when they stop attacks early or are too harmless.

Bochum is the third highest scoring team in the BL so far, and at the top end of the table.

Cottbus had a total of 10 points after the first half with a total of 13 goals scored and 38 allowed. After the break they are now have 6 more points on 5 goals scored with 1 conceded in 2 games.

Id say that whatever they did at the break is working.

Before the break it looked hopeless to avoid relegation. Now there is at least a chance.

Berhalter was rated 2.5 by kicker and entered the Team of the Day. Possible that the cancelled game Mönchengladbach vs Wolfsburg kicks him out of there though.

Want a vote of confidence from your coach? Well, Gregg got his. Kaluzny sold to Leverkusen (!), opening up the central defense for him to step up and take control. And now the player rewards his coach for that demonstration of faith.

So far, so good... great for Berhalter, who's been looking for a team that will use him properly.

I know how players get rated in England from 1 to 10, 10 being highest, but what kind of rating system give a 2.5? Is that a 'from 1 to 5', with 1 being the best?

    A40-Kicker rates from 1 to 6, 1 being best, 6 being worst.

Jimmie...from what olaf and others have written, it's based on the grading system in German schools. So it makes perfect sense to them.

Wow - good news in the ratings for a Yank, for once. I almost made a ratings prediction post earlier, and I was going to guess 4,5.

I always loved that Kicker and it's rating. Always spot on. Clearly unbiased. Perceptive and intelligent football analysts all... well, until Sanneh gets back on the field anyway. Good on Gregg. Be nice if he could keep the Bus up, but I'm afraid one American team at least is going down - Be kinda funny (tho unlikely) if LD leaves the Quakes for the B2.

I think you could bet your life against this happening. They would have to chain Landon up and put him in a box .
