From USSoccerUK.com DC relief as duo are cleared. By Chris Bergin. DC United duo Ryan Nelsen and Brandon Prideaux are both set to be available for the start of the MLS season, after the duo were injured in the pre-season. Both players received their knocks in the 4-2 pre-season defeat against Columbus in Florida, but following evaluation by the club’s medical staff, they are set to be ready in time to be selected when the new season kicks off in April. However, one player who didn’t make the defeat at the hands of the Crew was Hristo Stoitchkov, who is “seeing elephants” after colliding with Chicago’s huge keeper Zach Thornton in their pre-season 0-0 draw. “Hristo (Stoitchkov) was a huge absence and we knew that it would be,” said manager Ray Hudson. “I don't know that it's a good sign that a guy like that is such an enormous miss when we start the game. But he was. He gets the guys focused and tuned in on the field for me. “But he's still seeing big elephants (due to concussion). He'll be OK after this preseason. Once we get back to DC he'll be fine. He has to keep off all activity. It was a tough and terrible collision against the biggest guy in MLS (Thornton). He got his bell truly pranged. It's still shaking."
