Just got an email from my adult team about a benefit tournament for Shawn Hannon. If you are interested, follow the link provided. Thanks! Start spreading the word and build as many teams as we can. Contributions will be made to *Shawn’s son Evan’s trust funds and any other charity his family suggest. Check out 6v6soccer.com and register soon. FYI – *Shawn was one of the Ohio National Guardsmen who died in the suicide bomber attack overseas a couple of weeks ago…he left behind a 9 month old son and wife. He was a great guy who (Jeremy) played a lot of soccer with over the years, and the tournament proceeds will benefit his son’s trust. Fees will be collected closer to the event, so you don’t have to worry about paying right now – just register your team. Official marketing campaign to start around 5/1.
I talked to Jamie today, can you keep the details posted/up to date. She said she would like to come to watch with the family.
I haven't been involved in this as much as I would have liked and this is pretty short notice but... There is a poker run from Grove City out to Buckeye Lake tonight, if you are interested you can meet at Planks on Broadway at 5:30, $20 per bike. It's setting up to be a nice weekend for soccer, all for a great cause!
Here is a pic of the teams that competed in the Heros Cup at Buckeye Lake this past weekend. Hoping to make it an annual event! Thanks to Frankie for showing up for a few beers as well! Another pic of a friend's team with Frankie. I am still working on info as far as donating directly to Evan's trust fund, I'll post when I get it.
If anyone would like to make a donation to Evan's trust fund, you can take it to any Heartland Bank and tell the teller it's for the Shawn T. Hannon Trust fund. They will be most familiar at the Grove City branch but any of the area Heartland Banks will be able to find the account.
Is there a way to mail in something? Not sure I have a Heartland branch nearby. I did not know the guy, but one who loses his life for our country has my gratitude and more.
My buddy is setting up a website for donations but has not got it up yet. I will let you know when it's live. And thanks to all of you. I didn't know Shawn other than having sub in as a keeper on my team a few times, but with more than a few friends and family in the military I figure helping get the word out is the least I can do. The interest in donations has been incredible!
Shawn was in my 2 brothers brigade so it strikes close to home personally for me so I would be interesting in giving a donation once a website is created.
