Two good pieces of news from this:

    1. Bengtson is in goal-scoring form
    2. Honduras drew their most winnable game - since Spain is a sure loss, odds are they're not getting out of the group stage so we can get Jerry back earlier.

Don't jump to conclusions. Japan is currently beating Spain in the second half.

Second goal was a PK, but the first one was a very nice deflection of a long-range shot from outside the box.

    Having a forward that's con
Having a Forward thats confident from the spot as well as having the instincts to position himself for tap-ins will be a plus for this roster. Stay healthy Jerry and hurry home. If this team has even a slim hope of making a late season run to the playoffs we will need your ability to score/

Bengston just got a nice header to the near post against Spain...

Bengston pulled in the 81st, Honduras has seen Spain hit the post(s?), crossbar, and everywhere around the net ... just nothing in yet. This is just rough to watch, if you're rooting for Honduras.

This game reminds me of that game where the US beat Brazil 1-0 in the late 90's where the score should have been lopsided in the favor of Brazil. Absolutely nothing is going Spain's way at all here.

Nope, but the whining, the pushing the ref, their actions ... just disgusting. Glad they lost.

God no, that was an obvious PK at the end and Honduras had hacked them and flopped around all game. Honduras are a disgrace, as usual, and the fact I have to watch their ugly play in the knockout rounds instead of Spain is extremely frustrating.

Disgrace huh? They're advancing to the next round, where is your national team in the tourney?

I can't understand calling Honduras a disgrace when Spain probably has more diving, whining, primadonnas. Perhaps if they'd stop diving anytime a defender gets near them, they'd get actual penalty calls. I can't blame a ref for being hesitant to call a foul when more than half the time Spain falls they're not even touched.

When's the last time Spain lost 2 consecutive matches? Impressive stretch.

But back on topic, it's nice to see Bengtson getting it done. He's got a bright future.

Central American teams and most South American teams dive and embellish far more

Kind of exciting that a Revs player is lighting it up at a major international tournament.

Honduras did hack a bit, but the reactions of the Spanish players was absolutely out of control.

After the should have been penalty that looked like a shoulder challenge but was actually a push in the middle of the second half and then the obvious hack down at the end that also somehow didn't get called I don't really blame them.

Or... you know ... they could have finished some of the easy chances they had.
