All we ever do is complain. We made the quarter-finals last year, man. I say we use 6 defensive midfielders this year and we'll go all the way. No one'll score on us!

Who's with me? We're Going streaking through the quad and through the gymnasium.

back to the manuel fernandes offer... a bola is saying that portsmouth is offering 8million just for benfica's 50% share. benfica is willing to accept the offer so the decision is in manuel fernandes' hands. get a bigger paycheque with a bottom table team in the premiership and risk getting stuck there or stay one more year and see if a big club comes calling. tough decision cuz it looks like petit and katsouranis will be starting ahead of him.

Wow...Its only 7:15 AM and I just got the worst news of the day. Did Benfica watch Petit's performance at the WC?

Also, what happened with someone buying Petit, what happened with that offer?

are u kiddin me.......over 10 millon Euros? plus 1/2 of his pass.......sale him now. ppl dont forget his injured right now so its a gamble to see if he get to his best again(u never know) and if he dose xplode in england well the other clubs will have to pay big $$$$ to have his service's which will mean more cash coming our way.
beside's its not like we dont have more players to fill in his spot.

i recall people bagging benfica for selling tiago...look now.

I think that Nuno Gomes, Miccoli and Mantorras make a decent rotation. Miccoli and Gomes combined very well last year, and the addition of Rui Costa will make them even better. Health is the key. I guess that Marcel is decent insurrance.

10 million Euro for 50 percent of his pass is a good deal. But I don't want to see him leave because I love watching him play, and I really think he is better then Petit.

benfica only have 50% of his pass. they already sold the other half but i never heard for how much. so the offer from portsmouth is for benfica's half but portsmouth will have to negotiate with the the group that owns the other 50% if they want his total pass.

he came up with benfica's youth we never paid for his service's from no one.....where do u get ur info from ??? the deal is this ...what ever cash they give us PLUS 50% of his next transfer fee to who he joins next.
so if he has a great yr next yr and say Man Unt pay $2000000 for him then we get 1/2 that cash ....onto top of this 8.5 mill pounds, sounds like a deal to me.
i think ur thinking of Luisao who we had 50/50 ownership but i think we ended up buying the other 50% but dont quote me on that one tho.

Just got to say both petit and beto need to get the stepping from benfica, i just feel they not good and consistant enough. Manuel Fernandes needs to stay he is young and still has a lot to learn at benfica if we sell him now we not only loss a talented youngster but also cash he may be worth in a couple of years.

Two players i would like benfica to buy are Ricardo Vaz te and Pedro Mendes.

i never said benfica paid for his services. i said they had already sold 50% of his rights to a group which is linked to an israeli man named pina zahavi. so the offer from portsmouth is only for benfica's 50%.

whats all this about the deal being agreed, whats the news in portugal?

Pompey target Manuel is 'more than Makelele'
Pompey will land the man Jose Mourinho dubbed 'the new Claude Makelele' if they sign Manuel Fernandes.
Sources in Portugal say a massive £8.3m deal has been agreed for the international midfielder.
And if the hype is true, Harry Redknapp could land one of the most destructive forces in European football in the 21-year-old.
But there is more to Fernandes' game then simply stopping opponents from playing.
Respected Portuguese journalist Silvio Vieira described the international as one of the most exciting players in his country.
And he said he is actually more comfortable playing as a box-to-box driving force in the middle of the park, despite Mourinho's comparisons to his French midfielder.
There are still question marks hanging over Fernandes' form and fitness, however. The Benfica man was criticised for his club performances at the end of last season.
He put that down to playing despite needing an operation on his groin, which he has still not had.
Vieira insisted Pompey will still be getting an exciting talent. He said: 'He is an excellent player with huge potential.
'Manuel is the type of player who has a huge impression on the game.He is excellent at recovering the ball.
'But he also possesses lots of skill, too.
'The role he likes to play is as a box-to-box player but he can also play in front of the defence.
'He really prefers to attack, though. That's where he is most effective because he has a powerful shot.
'Jose Mourinho called him "the new Makelele", but he is more attacking than Makelele.
'But Portsmouth are getting a top player who will work well in the Premiership.'

We need Frank Alvarez. He would probably sell Manuel for $20 million and then have them loan him to us for the season and still pay his salary!!
