With the same team as the last season, only changing Alan Karan (moved to Italy) and geting Carlitos (From Juventude Viana), the rink-Hockey team is a strong team to fight for the national title! I will try to post here the results of this season!
Pre-season Matches: After a victory against ALVERCA by 6-1, Benfica lost against Juventude Viana... by 6-3. Both games were played out of LIsbon, but the thing is... these are "jogos a feijões"... who cares? Next week, Benfica will play in the "Torneio das Vindimas", with OLiveirense, FC Porto and the promoted team of Candelaria. THe games will be play in Azores, and I think we all can see the games (Live broadcast) at the website http://www.csc-candelaria.com/ , via TV and Radio. Todos os jogos do Torneio terão transmissão radiofónica directa na antena da Rádio Pico: Quinta-feira, 22/09/2005: 19h00m: U.D. Oliveirense - O.C. Barcelos 20h30m: S.L. Benfica - Candelária S.C. Sexta-feira, 23/09/2005: 19h00m: O.C. Barcelos - S.L. Benfica 20h30m: Candelária S.C. - U.D. Oliveirense Sábado, 24/09/2005: 18h00m: O.C. Barcelos - Candelária S.C. 19h30m: U.D. Oliveirense - S.L. Benfica
Be welcome, Frank! To be realistic, Benfica can fight against Porto if they are 100% Concentrated. The quality is there, but the Benfica's players are not so strong (phisically) and are not so... smart ("eficazes") as the Porto players are... But the answer is YES! (If it was a NO, what would be the joke of amking this championship?)
how many portuguese teams are in the Champions League? a bola had some news about some of the teams no taking part in the CERS cup?
The list of teams in Champions league and CERS Cup is avaiable on the CERS Official website: http://fr.cerh.info/ The portuguese teams in the next season european competitions are: EUROLEAGUE: FC Porto, SL Benfica and UD Oliveirense CERS CUP: Portosantense SAD Before you ask why is not Barcelos (4º), Juventude de Viana (5º) or Nortecoope (6º) in those competitions, the answer is: Lack of money;
I'am doing my best... anyway, when I'am not here, you can follow the last Benfica rink-hockey news at the website of a friend of mine, at www.hoqueislb.net... you can even know the results at the moment! Just hope that others clubs or other sports made the same...
Benfica won Mealhada 17-2 yesterday... the game was in Mealhada, and was a great test for the attack. I just hope that Benfica can train the defensive tactics after the official games...
Listen to the games of the TORNEIO DAS VINDIMAS at http://www.radiopico.com/ Todays results: Oliveirense 4-4 Barcelos Benfica - Candelária (1st half: 1-1)
Yes, Candelária is from Azoresw. The history of this club is avaiable on their official website, at http://www.csc-candelaria.com/ They grew up very fast, and it is the first time since many years that an azorian club is playing in the highest level of portuguese rink-Hockey... They are from Pico and have a small pavillion (wich they share with a School). The fing is... they have a lot of money, because of conections of their dirigents to governmental money... dont ask me why!
I think I told a few months ago that PEDRO ALVES is playing there... just like the former Barcelos GK, Paulo Matos, and the argentinian Mauro Fernandez... and the great brasilian player, BRUNO MATOS... Anyway, they have a very good team, and they are for the 1st time in the 1st national division!
I think that the pavillion is too small for the 1st Division... The people of Pico enjoys this game very much!
