You're expecting too much if you think they're "breathing new life into the idea". Over 25 years ago Ruts (PSV) proposed we join forces and very little to no progress has been made ever since. Had we gone ahead with the BeNe League back when the PL broke away and a new CL logo was introduced... meh, it's useless to speculate. “We moeten het idee van een BeNeLeague op z’n minst bestuderen als we in Europa nog onze plaats willen hebben”. I've read before that basic research into the BeNe League hasn't been done (TBF a few years ago we had the women's case-study, yay!!!, but we already knew the women's club game isn't lucrative). After more than 25 years that's quite the statement. Belgian clubs will never consent to be treated like the greedy, top Eredivisie clubs have treated the less fortunate clubs in Holland. The Eredivisie's inequity serves the interest of the big clubs. Do you really think they'll change the status quo or that Belgian clubs will agree to be gouged? Save your breath.
