Anyone know when Ben's contract expires? I was just wondering how long he'll remain in MLS (unless of course he's loaned to Europe before that time).
That has been the assumption everyone has been saying. Signed through the end of 2003. And then its off to Europe.
Ben's the guy When healthy Ben is the heart, soul and spirit of DCU. It will be very difficult to lose him to Europe but he deserves all his success. Enjoy watching him while he's here.
Any clue on who would be looking at him? He played a small bit at Nottingham Forest. The announcers for the DCU/Tottenham match spoke highly of him. Does he have a shot at EPL or is he still D1 (assuming it's England that takes him)?
Who would be interested in who in the 2003/4 winter open signing period for the EPl is almost impossible to predict. This time last year David Moyes was at North End and was interested in McBride. Nows he's at Everton -- McBride on loan. Kirovski went from Crystal Palace to Birmingham following Bruce. What will be of interest is that money is tight in the EPL for all but a select group of teams, so national team players from America that can be gotten for NO transfer fee and who will find $400-500K to be big money will be very sought after. Particularly as some of our lads prove they can do well. We'll be like the Africans and French leagues -- places you can get real value for money.
Not sure how he qualified before, but wouldn't Ben be ineligible for a work permit in England? I guess if he plays in all the matches between now and the fall he could win an appeal, but otherwise, he may end up on the continent. Speaking of which, didn't I see something on here about a German club being interested in buying him now?
