Is this the first time a government has brought charges against the CoS? Anyone familiar with EU law know what the possible consequences of this endeavor could be, one way or the other?

I know Germany has serious problems with Scientology. I remember someone (Travolta/Cruise?) though maybe not a Hollywood type, but someone did lobby Clinton on this and (maybe?) he brought it up with Kohl at a summit.

(Too lazy to use Google today.....)

In Germany many people (and government officials) would like to do the same, Scientology is certainly on the edge of being against the German constitution, which means that it can be outlawed. Whether they crossed that edge or not is up for the federal court to decide.

Good move by Belgium, I think personally.

Seeing that Belgian coalition talks have gone on for ages and theres still no happy ending in sight, I'm thinking the Belgians might soon ban Belgium themselves.

Not going to happen. One side will just fold again. If we go by history, it's likely to be the Flemish, yet again... *sigh*

So we'd basically have two countries that are between the Netherlands and Luxemburg in size there? Interesting? who's going to keep the king and the national flag, if I may ask? ;-)

No worries, one day the lovely Flemish people will rejoin the land where they belong, i.e. the Netherlands.

A poll recently showed that the majority of Flemish people wouldn't mind rejoining the Netherlands. Seriously! The Flemish don't care about their royal family (who barely speak Dutch so that's understandable)
