Three months ago Belgium interduced plans to mint a 2 Euro coin that commemorates the 200th aniversery of the battle of Waterloo, but because that battle was one of the most humiliating defeats by the French - the French government vetos the plan. But instead of giving up the Belgians found a legal loophole in the Euro regulations that stated that any country could make any euro coin as long as it was in an irregular denomination. So the Belgians invented the 2.50 euro coin and minted 70 000 that commemorated the battle of Waterloo. http://www.theguardian.com/business...w-france-wins-the-battle-belgium-wins-the-war This is GLORIOUS!!!! I hope more countries do stuff like that! Can you think of any potential 2.50 euro coins?
Germany has just missed its 2014 opportunity to commemorate the 75th anniversary of commencement of a prior attempt at European unification. There's still time to mark 70 years since the passing of Hitler. "RIP der Fuhrer!"
How about this one: Italy in 2018 mints a 4.11€ coin depicting this monument: on the front with the statement: HIC PATRIAE FINES SISTE SIGNA HINC CETEROS EXCOLVIMVS LINGVA LEGIBVS ARTIBVS engraved in the back.
