The Belgians need a win in this game. They need to show that their collective talent can play as a team because a draw here could see them have no control of finishing in the top two slots to guarantee advancement.

The Irish can probably look at this as a free hit. Win and they're guaranteed to finish above the Belgians while finishing in the top three. Lose and they face an Italian team which will be heavily rotated (given a Belgian win in this game, will guarantee Italy top spot in the group).

I truly believe the Belgians will win this game, the talent will be enough to paper over any cracks here.

Not sure what happened to Hazard. One year ago he was probably one of the top 10 players in the world. Now I'm not sure he's even one of the top 10 players on this Belgium team.

There was a question about team unity for Belgium, but Lukaku went to celebrate the goal with coach and bench ... Seems like a good sign for them.

Ireland might have deserved a pen before the Belgium goal. Dangerous play by Vert in the area.

Gotta track the midfield runs. Cardinal sin, there.

Damage control now for the Irish. Could see another goal from Belgium I think

This looks like one of the groups that won't advance a 3rd place team. I can't see Sweden or Ireland finishing with more than 2 points.

Italy might field an under strength team as they are through

Which means those players will be fighting for a bigger look in the squad. Ireland would do very well with a draw.

True ... but Italy's B team will still be organized and tough to break down. It's hard for me to imagine this Ireland team earning more than 1 point in that game.

Here is the other thing. Our B team is really what we already fielded, but Conte has not realized that yet. Players like Insigne and Bernardeschi should be starting, and they are probably better than any forward Conte has fielded so far. In attack at least, Insigne and Bernardeschi will be trying to prove themselves that they should be starting, so I doubt we will go very easy.

I have to agree - a front line with some combination of Zaza/El Shaarawy/Insigne/Immobile/Bernardeschi will be quite motivated. I just don't think Ireland can get the win they'll need, even a "weaker" Italy team will be motivated.
