"I met with him yesterday and told him we weren't picking up his option," said Fire interim coach Denis Hamlett.

You think Denis was thinking, "it is better to give than to receive" when he uttered those words?

    :D

I'd like to see it be a chain reaction:

[denis to bedrossian] "We are not picking up your option." [feels tap on shoulder]

"Denis is me, the guppster. We aren't picking up your option." [feels tap on shoulder]

"Gupmeister, its me Wicky-wicky Tim Leiweike. We aren't picking up your option either." [feels tap on shoulder]

"timmmmay, it's me. New local multi-billionaire, passionate soccer fan and owner of the Fire. Don't let the door hit you in the ass."

    :)

    I wouldn't say I'm jubilant...he seemed like a really nice guy.

But this does get my hopes up. ;)

He actually looked like more help than hindrance when he played. ...all 12 minutes of it.

In truth he had 165 minutes with the club and had probably collected about $165k of pay. he looked decent, but not worth $1000 a minute.

I'm not happy about Pascal leaving per se, but I'm happy the club is cutting loses on another poor investment.

I'd just be happy that we stop making poor investments and I wouldn't have to decide if I'm happy or not when we have to give up on another one.

Why is it the older the reference, the more amusing?

Too bad he didn't stay healthy enough to make an impact. You have to wonder if more of the people the Fire signed in the past 4 years had been healthy more often what the result would have been. Oh, well. If the queen had balls she'd be king.

One player I'd like to see get better enough to be a regular starter is Plotkin, mostly because he can really put a lot of velocity on the ball.

addition by subtraction. all 12 minutes he played was blocking someone with a pulse from getting some experience.

No kidding. This is a further indictment of Guppy's complete inability to evaluate talent, the most important job of a General Manager in any sport.

Well then technically you can't pin this on Guppy - he's President and CEO, we don't have a GM.

    Re: Bedrosian Gone!!!

It is sad that he has been with the team for just about a year and you still cannot spell his name correctly.

The name is "Pascal Bedrossian", not Bedrosian.

That being said, it is no great loss that he is gone. He provided nothing to the team, did not bring in any fans and ate up a lot of salary.

It would have been nice to see him play consistently to see why the Fire signed him in the first place, but it is time to move on now.

My question is why they let him go on the same day that Ivan received his green card (and where is Segares', by the way)?

Does this mean another SI is on the horizon? Probably not Salas, can we be in the market for Olisedebe?

No, I don't want to start an Olisedebe rumor, but Olisedebe would be a good choice for the Fire, and would not cost too much, probably not even a DP.

His knees are trashed aren't they? Not exactly what we need right now.

    Re: Bedrosian Gone!!!

Which is why I was not starting another rumor, and certainly not advocating the signing of Olisedebe (although I am not morally oppposed to the idea..at the right price).

Aren't Blanco's knees trashed? And Armas' knees (or ACLs) are shot, or on their "last legs" from the surgeries he has had. Bedrossian's legs (hamstrings)were shot. And Rolfe's legs (ankles) are continuously injured...maybe Olisidebe is just what we need. He'll fit right in.

    Re: Bedrosian Gone!!!

Because if they didn't release they would have to pay his salary which would have been guaranteed after July 1. As it stands now, we have $175k more in cap space rather than blowing it on a player who is constantly injured.
