Coming up on 20/20: This Friday, April 25, at 10 p.m. • One of Britain's hottest couples — soccer heartthrob David Beckham and former Spice Girl, "Posh" sit down with 20/20 for a candid interview -according to TV ad and the abcnews.com website. Beckham on friday night primetime tv in the USA... hmm .. watch Bend it Like Beckham in the movies then watch him on ABC in the same night in America.. wow
I like the way you think. So this is an interview done exclusively for 20/20? Or is it just a tape of some interview they did in Britain? It would be cool if Beckham was serious about this US exposure. I know the chances of him coming to MLS anytime soon are slim to nil, but I like that he seems to want this role as ambassador of soccer to the US.
After further thought, maybe his wife want to move here for the shops. Isn't that why she wants him to go to MIlan and Madrid?
thanks for reminding me, is he doing interview in US ? if it is, i should see him, i haven't seen him since our highschool graduation.
The interview is about the plot to kidnap one of his children. That is what it is about...that was also on the TV commercial.
Very last article in this wrap-up from British rags mentions this under the title "American Booty" "Becks will attempt to become a global phenomenon tonight as the world's top sports star. Beckham and wife Victoria will be quizzed on primetime American TV by Barbara Walters - the US version of Michael Parkinson. It's the final step towards Becks becoming a worldwide icon - he conquered the Far East in last year's World Cup Finals. A spokeswoman said: "It's just the right time to introduce David and Victoria to America." News Reporter, Daily Star " -snippet http://tinyurl.com/aagb
pbp - Posh looks fantastic in the interview. Becks made $24 mil last year - half in endorsements. live in "Beckingham Palace" hehe Yes they showed the goal from midfield... Can't see that enough...
game winning goal in the world cup semifinal against greece? ummm, you aired the damn games...get it right you buffoons. i am sorry but an error like that in a story is just uncalled for, damn, all you had to do was look at the signs in the background that said argentina...this is just rediculous, come abc, get your $hit together, you just looked really stupid to every soccer fan who tuned in to watch the story.
talking about Posh's eating problem - man was she skinny. Looks frigging incredible now The title at the bottom the whole time has been "The Plot vs. Posh" - talking about the 2 kidnapping attempts on Posh and the kids now. Posh says they were driving around in bullet proof cars, still don't go anywhere without bodyguards. Posh wants to be successful in a solo singing career so she says in the next few years, she'll put out some stuff...
Over now - nice piece, always get a chuckle hearing Beckham talk - that accent lol Don't know how much of middle America watches 20/20 on Friday night but it was neat. The piece focused as much (if not more) on Posh than Beckham. Barely a mention of the movie "Bend it like Beckham"; thought that would have had more than one sentence (referred to as a British hit).
And when he got sent off in a World Cup playoff game. Did they have Brooklyn before they got married or was that just another mistake? And I liked the part where she asked Becks, Were you intimidated dating someone famous?
nope, that was correct...they had the kid and then they got hitched. but seriously, all they had to do was have someone with the basic knowledge of soccer look over the story and those two errors could have been corrected very easily. uggh, this is the stuff that disappoints me when it comes to getting respect in the united states with soccer, i mean how hard is it to know that greece was not even IN the world cup. ughh... it was a nice little interview though, other than the few errors.
hmm, despite newest dodgy haircut Becks looked hot (approval from 3 of my cousins as well). America are you catching it..... Beckham fever!! or not.
LOL. Also, didn't Beckham join United at the age of 14? In the piece it mentioned he joined at the age of 16, but in the most recent interviews with his dad, it mentions Becks joining at 14. Talk about bad research.
I've got to say I was a bit disappointed in the interview. Mostly just a very brief history of how Becks and Posh rose to fame, and how popular they are in Britain, with all their affluence and tabloid coverage. I guess it was just a quick introduction for most of America, but I was disappointed that they didn't really ask them many questions. Nothing related to Beckham's future at Man Utd, or anything even soccer-related really. Not even a mention that the team will be playing in America this summer (not that I heard, anyways). I don't think it will convince the average American to take much notice. That damn hair-pulling segment got more time than the interview...
I'll be the first to admit that some of the things that we soccer fans complain about are nitpicky but I'm with everyone who complains about the "game winning goal vs. Greece in the World Cup semifinals". As someone said earlier, ABC aired the games, how hard was it, really, to get this right. Otherwise, I liked the piece. It was a nice introduction for the casual American who doesn't know much about the game. I don't think questions about his potential move to Madrid were really within the piece, though I suppose they could have been worked in. I thought Becks was surprisingly articulate and even threw in some "big words". You can tell the strides he's made and maturity he's gained in the past few years, especially since he became England captain.
did anyone tape the interview, please someone, i was watching the bloody dallas mavericks on t v and fell asleep forgetting about the interview.
I mean, when the majority of America is hearing "David Beckham" and even "Manchester United" for the first time, asking about his future at Man Utd doesn't make much sense. But I guess they could've mentioned the tour in the summer, but that'll only mean people who found out about the tour now will be disappointed because they won't get tickets . . .
Whoa, now that I think about it, could that be yet another hint that he won't be involved in the tour this summer?
